Team Name: The Cripps Eclipse

Def: Laird, Docherty, Doedee, Roberton, Hill, Rivers (Bianco, Gould)
Mid: Macrae, Neale, Fyfe, Cripps, Dunkley, Rowell, Pickett, Roberton (Maginness, Mead, Sharp)
Ruc: Grundy, Gawn (Comben)
Fwd: Whitfield, Martin, Steven, Smith, Rankine, King (Cahill, Mahoney)
$66,500

Defence:
Rory Laird: He is a bit of a boring pick but with the rest of my backline being so risky I think he is a much needed one. Hasn't averaged below 93.8 in 5 years and has a high of 108.2 just two years ago. Rarely misses games either. With a lot of the higher end picks having some pretty big question marks I think I am going to lock him in like I have done the last couple of seasons. Gibbs won't impact his scoring much at all in my opinion.
Docherty: Based on the last two seasons he has played he should be one of the top defenders come seasons end. Bargain.
Doedee: Don't think he will be a keeper by any means but should score 75-80 and go up in price and be a much safer pick than those defense rookies. Not sold on him but he is in for now. Could become Birchall.
Roberton: I think some people forget how good this guy was in terms of supercoach. If he plays he will be a D6 keeper. Well and truly worth the risk.
Hill: Lock in there best 22 and should average around the 80 mark. Again if he is playing he is locked.

Midfield:
Macrae: Has been elite for a number of years now in terms of supercoach. Dunkley exploding didn't impact his scoring either. Locked in for now.
Neale: Starting him last year really gave me an advantage on those who didn't. Can't see him dropping off at all this year so he is locked.
Fyfe: Probably my least favourite pick out of these 5. Scoring isn't the question but durability is. Last year he came out and said that he had taken serious precautions to make sure he would play a full season and for the most part they seemed to work. The fact that the other 4 mids seem to be extremely durable gives me some confidence to start him.
Cripps: With Carlton due to win more games this year I see him being the number 1 ranked mid. No bias at all ;)
Dunkley: Post bye went 130 and I think Bevvo has seen how good a player he is. Libba will not affect his output at all.
Rowell: Rowell could be a better scorer than Walsh was last year so he is too good not to start.
Pickett: 2019 Grand Final. That is all.

Rucks:
No one will be able to match them. Having the third best ruck will cost you too much points in terms of overall. And trading to get them in will be too much of a hassle.

Forwards:
Whitfield: Based on averages alone he will be a top 2 forward. Whether or not he plays enough to be justified is the question. 105, 123, 157, 137 and 86 were his first 5 scores last year. I don't want to be missing out on them.
Dusty: Hasn't averaged under 100 since 2013 and has played 20 or more games in all of those seasons. If that doesn't justify him as a pick I don't know what does. Can be a bit of a rollercoaster but come seasons end he will be a top 2 forward.
Steven: Good mental health will do him a world of wonders. I am picking him as a keeper. I think he can be a top 5-10 forward.
Smith: Not 100% sold on him. He had an insanely good season in 2018 and only averaged 98. However, I don't think an 87-92 average is unattainable and I think at that price he is too much of a risk not to start. Could easily be a makeshift F6 come seasons end even if he only averages 85.

HappyDEZ

I would use some of that $66 to upgrade a rook to Nakia & put him on the field.

Laird is a lock IMO even if he is boring. Consistent and underpriced to start with a great chance to be top 6 defender come years end. Rest of Defense is very risky and could do with some tweaking. To do this though you need to make an allowance in either the Mid or Fwd line.

My suggestions would be to drop either Smith or Steven and upgrade in your Def a bit

Version 2
Sicily, Houston, Docherty, Roberton, Hill, Rivers (Bianco, Gould)
Cripps, Mitchell, Danger, Bont, Oliver, Rowell, Pickett, McHenry (Mead, McGinness, Budarik)
Grundy, Gawn (Comben)
Whitfield, Martin, Steven, Smith, Georgeidias, King (Rankine, Williams)
$4,600

Few changes up here.

Really starting too like how it’s turning out.

FYI I think the mids I currently have are as good a chance as any to be the top 5 come seasons end.

Forward line is not too dissimilar to mine. Only difference is I have Bonar and Brander. Mids are good, but I think you need one of Neale or Macrae in the midfield. It might be worth finding a way to get the cash to bring one in. I'd be chopping Danger or Bont if I had to move one.

I'm personally meh on Sicily and not sold on Houston. I also would have that back up for Roberton.

I’m not too sure about Bonar and think he might not score much better than some of the cheaper rookies. In saying that he is definitely on my watch list! Neale and Macrae will probably find there way to my team but currently I like the 5 premiums I have. It allows me to get another premium defender.

Sicily I’m pretty confident on. Playing down back he dominates and I love him as a player so that helps with the selection and I’m all aboard the Houston train!

Houston, Docherty, Roberton, Hill, Greaves, Williams (Gould, Rivers)
Cripps, Mitchell, Danger, Bont, Oliver, Rowell, Greene, Pickett (Mead, Maginness, Robertson)
Grundy, Gawn (Conroy)
Whitfield, Martin, Petracca, Steven, Smith, Rankine (King, Williams)
$30,000

First real shake up here. Dropped a back premium for another forward due to rookies looking slim. What is everyone’s thoughts?

Great side MS and 30k in the bank.. can not fault with GG combo. Maybe just and eye on Rankine round 1.. Maybe Cameron at F6 if he  doesn't come up..

Aside from the rookies (a lot of the guys you've listed seem unlikely for Rd. 1), and Petracca (trap imo), the rest of the side looks good. I'd spend the extra 15k and get someone like comben as your R3, allows you to use Cameron as ruck cover.

Ringo

Also consider Xerri as R3 - He also has DPP and may get games.

Petracca is one of the only picks I’m not confident on! He could easily average 95+ this year and be a great pick or average around 85 and be a fail. For now he stays in but I’m not 100% sure

Rookies are place holders obviously.

Im looking at Petracca as well.  I might wait and see how he performs in the first two rounds

RaisyDaisy

Gonna need a restructure mate

Next to zero chance 4 120k def rookies line up - need to splash a bit more cash down there

Yep I’ve just realised this as well. And Hill looks unlikely for round 1 as well now.

Will post my updated team later today.

This team is very dependant on the right rookies being named for round 1.

Sicily, Houston, Docherty, Roberton, Brander, Williams (McLennan, Watson)
Cripps, Mitchell, Dangerfield, Bontempelli, Oliver, Rowell, Green, Pickett (Robertson, Mead, Budarik)
Grundy, Gawn (Conroy)
Whitfield, Martin, Steven, Smith, Rankine, King (Taylor, Mahoney)
$16,800

Sicily down to Dawson will be the move I make to free up some cash if I need to boost the rookies but I’m hopeful that the right amount of rookies pop up.
