Sitting here considering ROB again. Just going to play epic ruck minutes and have a full run at it ...

It’s gotta be Gawn/Grundy or if you’re considering cheaper Sauce Jacobs 100%.

Have looked at Sean Darcy as he should also have a really good crack at it with Sandi gone and Hogan out means Lobb forward.

Just puttting it out there... Gawn had a 200 point match in round 23, and Goldy still outscored him post-bye. 128 for Todd vs 126 for Max.

Goldy had a 176 so that pretty much counters against the 200

2ppg difference over 9 games vs a 16ppg difference over 21 games - gotta back in Maxy

I don't believe GG is essential, but in saying that I currently have GG right now...to justify ROB you basically need to start with an extra premium, but I don't see a good way to achieve that. I had a working setup but Steven's calf injury threw that out the window for me.

I think in SC the GG combo is what you have to go with, there is too much difference in scoring between Gawn and the next tier down.

if you are playing for one of them to come down in price, so you can save some cash and make a trade post bye, then how much $$ is a trade worth and how many points behind do you think it will cost you?

This is the year for a set and forget ruck.

Gawn injury would open things up a bit...

Surely most would go with Sauce till the next best became apparent or Gawn returns and drops price whilst getting to full fitness

Yep Jacobs scores on the decline getting quite old now as well if Gawn's knee turns out a longer injury Preuss or Darcy might be cheaper options.

For those considering Sauce...

What are you expecting him to average?

Or at least, what does he need to average at his price to be a worthwhile pick?

I just don't see him as a viable option, but would love to hear some reasoning.

For me it's ROB as the only alternative to Gawn.

(If I was forced to speculate, I'd go English).

For me it would need to be a combo deal

Example:
Gawn + cheap rook = 130 + 50 = 180
Sauce + Greenwood = 90 + 90 = 180

If I was to pick Greenwood I would expect a 90+ as a keeper, so a 90 from Sauce would be acceptable. He'd gain a bit of cash, and can upgrade to Gawn. Both examples require one upgrade
. Sauce won't make as much $$ as a decent rook, but has the bonus of playing in rd13, and can become Gawn for the bye. If these numbers hold up, there's not much lost (but not much gained either). If Sauce gets the #1 ruck role and goes 100+ it's a win.
