Not the start we wanted for the season  >:(....but probably always on the cards.

End of the first and second quarters looked really promising, good bursts of speed and some plucky goals. But the turnovers cost us, especially as Carlton held and moved the ball around so well. And our Ruck work was shocking.

I reckon Connors is up for a great season. There's been so much focus on Martin, I think Connors has been forgotten. Cousins did ok, despite the amount of attention he was getting.

Nason was pretty good on debut, nice goal too. But I reckon Relton Roberts was elevated maybe a bit early. Just didn't look convincing. And here's me with him warming the bench in Supercoach  :P

What did everyone else think?

Richmond's team on paper was on of the worse I'd seen in a while! So, when put into that context, they did push the Blues for one quarter...

But, no, not many positives. Newman was shocking.

Patrician

yeah, I agree. Floundered around like a beached whale. Edwards was better, but even he gave up turnovers.

roo junior looked alright. will need another year or two to develop into a full blown FF.

watched the first 2 quarters and hislop was great with the tackling. was probably the guy who put the most pressure on the blues for the first half.

richmond really have to work on their forward, backs and rucks. simmonds just got absolutely smashed by kreuz. i even saw simpson winning a ruck contest for the blues ::)

Patrician

He was better vs Warnock, but not by much. And Warnock hasn't played in what, two years?

But yeah, pimply Kreuzer was just too good.

richmond should of groomed him as a ruckman and not a forward.

No no, for the RICHMOND job. Any other coaching job, sure, experience necessary.

Richmond's rucks were non-existent around boundary throw-ins and ball ups in the forward and back 50. Turnovers and poor goal shooting proved costly and I thought that some of the senior players were disappointing. Some of the kids look promising, such as Nason, Roberts, Martin and Connors. Another long year for Richmond. I predict a wooden spoon this year for Richmond, but hopefully, for Richmond's sake they develop time in the young kids.

richmond have been no good for years, get high picks and do the wrong things with them and they do better at other clubs, and they plain and simple pick the wrong players. they might finally have a decent bunch of players coming through now though. Cotchin, Deledio and Martin culd be a potent midfield in 2 years time. But they just need to work on other areas, like Jack Riewoldtd goal kicking, a second tall forward that isnt Mitch Morton, a replacement for Bowden.etc..
