Toronto v Berlin
Head-to-Head: 5  v  4
Last time they played (Round 9): Berlin Brewers (21.6.132) lost to Toronto Wolves (24.8.152)
2019 Head-to-Head: 15 v 3
Purps' Takeaway: Toronto have seemingly timed their run to perfection, having scored their two highest scores of the season in Round 17 and in their qualifying final win against New Delhi. The Brewers... have scored two of their worst 3 scores in its qualifying final loss and incredibly fortunate semi final win. So, the result of this game looks clear. Berlin will rebound HARD whilst Toronto is overdue to falter, and this Berlin victory will be one for the ages. Oh sure, the Wolves have been the best side so far this season, with the most balanced list and an incredibly good age profile, but you know where they've gone wrong? They won the minor premiership. It's a curse, and - despite poor showings in my past two weeks - I JUST REALLY FEEL like we'll come to play this week. 2019 has been my best WXV season, and I don't care what any of you say, I deserve to be in this game. Whilst this season has matched my 2013 effort, my team has navigated through severe player unavailability, and I JUST KNOW its ceiling has yet to be realised, and I just really, really think we'll come to play this week. Regardless of the result, I'm just thankful to have made a preliminary final... I've played this game for 8 seasons, and to get some reward for effort has had an emotional impact on me. The odds are stacked against me, I mean, that 2019 head-to-head says it all, but flower it, this is my turn Toronto, and I WILL BEAT YOU!

Beijing v New Delhi
Head-to-Head: 2  v  6
Last time they played (Round 1): Beijing Thunder (22.10.142) lost to New Delhi Tigers (23.10.148)
2019 Head-to-Head: 9 v 9
Purps' Takeaway: I love this match-up so hard, and is clearly my MATCH OF THE ROUND! The Thunder & Tigers. How long has it been now?

Hi all, Master Q and I would like to apply for the position at the Beijing Bears as Co-Coaches.

These three coaches were all signed up DURING the 2013 season, inheriting what would become bottom 4 lists for that season. And 2014 too. Beijing managed to get to 14th in 2015, but Tiger time was still to come. In 2016, New Delhi produced one of the most inspiring WXV seasons ever, going from 16th in 2015 to runners-up in the grand final. The Thunder were still building though, finishing 10th that season. In 2017, New Delhi maintained the rage, but faltered in the prelims, whilst Beijing underachieved massively, finishing 10th despite being 5th in total points scored. 2018 was the year of the 'Jing though, missing out on the minor premiership on % only. Both teams faltered in separate preliminary finals that year, and one of them will do that again this weekend. I'm sure Toges & Ricophants have used each other as measuring sticks since they signed up, but this is first time they will meet in finals, and the week where we will find out whose on top: Beijing, or New Delhi. Will the Tigers lose its third consecutive prelim final? Is this REALLY the year of the 'Jing? Or will the Tigers atone for its 2016 blunder? I have no idea. But I know this could be a contender for game of the year. If I had to tip... the Thunder.

GAME ON!

And don't forget reserves!

All teams who are in the Reserves finals this week are not in the seniors. What I require from you, is that you NAME YOUR BEST SENIOR 18 like you were playing finals. I will be scrutinising your best XV to determine if that is really who you would play, so as to ensure that the players available for the reserves matches are the ones that would normally be available. If I don't agree, then I will name one for you.

After Melb/Syd

Welp, that's half my team, and it could be a lot worse I say. Gawn getting injured and scoring 10 points in the last quarter was f*cking brutal, but still, more things went right than wrong. I'm pretty happy I picked the right emergencies to. I really need Toronto to misfire if I'm any chance, but at least I won't score sub-130 again.

New Delhi meanwhile wouldn't be too unhappy with their players, with Gus Brayshaw finally bringing something to the table.

After Saturday

Hold onto your hats folks! We have some contests here!

When I saw the Jack Steven 32, I metaphorically threw in the towel. But god damn it, if there isn't just a LITTLE bit of hope for me yet! If everyone scores their averages, I'll still lose by 100 points, but I tell ya what, if Macrae scores below 100... I reckon Toronto could be in trouble. A small hope, but flower ME I'LL TAKE IT!

Darcy Byrne-Jones! Oh, no! How can you score only 7 points for a whole game?! That is a devastating result for Beijing, but it's not a fatal blow yet. The Tigers team has been hit or miss so far, and look destined for a score around 1400. That score is still very much attainable for Beijing - if everyone scores their average, they'll land on 1377 - so this is game on, and looks set for a tight finish.

EDGE OF YOUR SEAT STUFF!

After Rich/Wce

Hit & miss for Toronto, with Prestia going big, and Redden the opposite. Odds unmoved I reckon.

Bachar Houli, take a bow! He has rocketed New Delhi up to 1464, which will be a tough target for Beijing to chase down after forward duo Lambert and Caddy failed to fire. A Tiger victory looks ominous.
