Doing the unthinkable?

Surley someone has thought of doing the unthinkable?

Gawn/Goldy to O'Brien and pocked the $400k? Big if, but if OBrein can keep his 80 average, you could almost cull 3 of your playing rookies and grab cheap FYfe, Laird, Tim Kelly and co. This will rely on Gawn and Goldy not to go up to much in the coming 4-6 weeks

Holz was the first person to post this idea yesterday and he got ridiculed for it.

It’s extremely risky but I am going forward with it.

Means I can get Lloyd and Boak in the next two weeks for Parker/Clark (Gibbons to Ross also has to happen)

O’brien Is a much better scorer than any of the rookies apart From Walsh and doesn’t have the hardest teams to verse in terms of rucks.

*obviously means having to get Gawn back in in about 6 weeks which will be the hard part.

I am VERY tempted to do this. Especially with Sauce now out for 6 weeks ( as reported on AFL .com, had surgery yesterday ). BIG risk, but where I'm ranked now need to do something risky to get back in the game. O'brien's price rise will more than cover any gains, and with my FWD lines all of a sudden looking worse than pathetic the scoring advantage I could get from Boak etc covers the gap between Gawn/Goldy and O'briens score. It's just the wasting of 2 trades that get used by time you bring Gawn/Goldy back in that concerns me.

We should have walsh, Collins, Shrimshaw all to cahs in by that time so should just about have enough cash to do that. I think if we can do it in 3 trades we get a win

IntegralX

That’s the sort of thing you do if you’re playing for overall.

chemical-m

I'm going for it.

Goldy to ROB and setterfield to hire via Burgess leaves me with $480k

LDU to Ross should net me another $200k to start upgrading

Bully

Just need to hope you don't get sidetracked with injury etc. I think money MS is correct, 6 weeks tops without Gawn, then you start bleeding points. The big risk is injury to either Grundy or O'Brien, it will be season over because of the trades needed to avoid a donut.

sammy123

I think this idea is way to risky

strikeforce

Problem i got is i have Danger, Heeney, Greene, Moore, Parker, Drew (Blakey, Petrol) in the forwards

Just got to really hope that Parker gets named or else ill be stuffed. Going to keep Greene

This is a seriously tempting strategy bit like when I started Witts a few years ago as a cheapie. Came out massive on top.
Difference here being trade happens mid season. But 500k means you can probably do 2 upgrades straight off the bat and you’re losing what 25ppg from Gawn to ROB. You could easily make that up.
I’d be able to go Greene > Boak and then week after Parker > Kelly and then a rookie DG so another upgrade week after straight up. Scrim Wilkie Duursma all fattened to 300k plus and Walsh 450 Constable 350 the only rookies left on field. Should be able to scrap enough from Clark/Atkins etc to play around.

Grundy ROB
Danger Heeney Boak Kelly Worpel Moore

tor01doc

Unfortunately I only got a lousy 30 trades for the entire season.

Nailed it with this. Massive upside.

If Grundy/O’brien Get injured you lose on the trade.
If Gawn goes up or stays the same in price and O’brien Averages 70ish I’ve lost.

I’m taking the risk but understand that it could derail my season.

When I first came across this strategy I thought it was crazy, but I can't believe that I am now actually entertaining the idea.
