Will look to get Rocky in this week.

At 440k he poses elite value as his role as an inside mid looks locked down

Will consider Rocky as a Constable replacement but prepared to wait a week given his BE is 86.

Yep fair call. Trade will be dependant on whether Danger and the rest of the forward rooks will be playing.

Just hoping if Hutchings tags, it is Boak he goes to and not Rocky

YoungGun

Laird and TKelly closely followed by Fyfe

Money Shot

Next week I will be upgrading in the forward line.

If I have enough to upgrade a rookie to boak should I do that or is Kelly the better option. They are the only two I’m considering at this stage.

Boak is  looking better and better. Not just one or two out of the box big ones, but 4 consecutive 120s, must have. Kelly good too tho, I started Boak and will look to get Kelly in two weeks when last weeks score is about to roll out.

North Melbournes Finest

Laird, Coniglio and Billings on my radar.

If you're going for overall, is it really worth trying to get those four players now? (Whitfield, Lloyd, Neale, Boak)

They've already scored hugely and everyone ahead of me in overall has some or all of those guys where I have none. The only way I catch them is by having different guys that score big and hoping one or all of those four drop off. I'm thinking of getting someone like Bont down the line but I started too heavy in the mids and it's backfiring big time.

Neale is the only one I'd hold off on, the others are the clear standouts in their respective lines.

Reality is most teams end up having the same top-end talent. It’s the bottom 6-8 on field that end up different usually, and that’s where most points are lost or gained. Whitfield is killing me atm, and I’m trying my hardest to find a way to get him in. Neale is just too pricey... :'(

You really need Whitfield and Lloyd otherwise maybe no chance of gaining on the others and winning overall. Bont instead of Neale is ok.

I don't know how far back you are but you might have to look for some quick upgrades and take some chances on players like Marshall, Burn man Rockliff, Libba if you don't have him already, Billings, and dare I say it, Greene when he is back.

I'm already too far back to win now. I just want to finish as high as possible. After running out of trades last year, I think I've gone too far the other direction and been too conservative. Holding Greene for two weeks has killed me (was going to trade him to Rozee first week, Marshall second week, did neither and lost 80 points per week - plus the cash I was going to use to get Whitfield two weeks ago...). I'm praying for Greene to go big this week but I think I need to perfect my cash gen now so that I can hopefully have a few extra premiums a tiny bit earlier than other teams and use that as my leg up. Just can't see how now. Honestly considering this season a write off already...

This is my approach. Hoping Greene can become a cheap keeper on return.

Getting midpricers means I’m only fielding 5 rookies this week, but some obviously need upgrading once the team is complete

Don't be talking write-off just yet. It sounds like you have been conserving your trades. That in itself still gives you a chance at being able to turn things around. You have had 4 weeks now to get a feel for what is happening, so might pay to start being a little more aggressive and just going for it. Use the rest of the season to experiment but not go too crazy with your choices. Find a balance between your conservative approach to the start of the year and backing in your hunches and taking some calculated risks. Have a decent crack at it and see how far back up you can climb.

People like to point the finger at Horse & RTB as fantasy coach nightmares but LC is right up there with the best of them.

The tricky thing is working out what to do this week. I need to chase cash as I still have none in the bank so can't even upgrade to anyone at this rate. Tempted to drop Oliver to a rookie as he's bleeding and doesn't look like himself...

My "premiums" and midpricers are as follows. Worth dropping any of them to restructure?

Def: Witherden, Williams, Smith
Mid: Cripps, Oliver, MCrouch, Coniglio, Brayshaw, Crouch, Liberatore
Ruc: Grundy, Gawn
Fwd: Dangerfield, Heeney, Greene, Moore

I've had Constable rotting on the bench all season instead of playing him while I've had to play three of Drew, Setters, Parker, Petrucelle since Round 2. Only def rookie I'm concerned about is Burgess but the others are all doing their job scoring 70+ for me.

Something like Oliver/MCrouch/Cogs/Brayshaw (which one? they all suck) to a rookie (Stack or Hore probably) and a forward rookie to a forward premium makes sense I think...

It's a fine line LH. You say you have Cons at M9 so I assume you have Walsh at M8. That being the case your mids are identical to mine except I started Neale where you started Oliver. Fine line indeed. I too am fielding 3 FWD rooks + I have Balta at F8. This is where Toby has let you down badly. I have Billings at F3 who has been not only been playing but making a positive contribution thus far.
