Please pledge funds to help fight cancer! Examples of ways you can help:
1.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug nails the top captain of the round.
2.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug's POD cracks the 120 mark.
3.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug gets egg on his face and his number 1 scores under 100.
4.   Make a once off donation.

Did you know that this is the 9th year I've done this? I'll continue to help with a smile and free of charge but, if you want to thank me, please donate to my charity efforts! Each week I will tell you some statistics on a player's last 3 games, their last 3 against this week's opponent, and their last 3 at this ground. I will also do a quick overview on my thoughts and have a guess at their score for this week. From all this, I'll give you my top 5 captain choices for the week and a speicial POD choice.

We have a partial lockout this week for the Richmond vs. Collingwood game which means we can use the CAPTAINS LOOPHOLE!

How it works:

1.   Select a player from the Tigers or Pies as your VICE CAPTAIN.
2.   For now, set your captain to someone worthy of captaincy in another game in case you forget to change it.
3.   IF your VC scores really well, sub a non-playing player onto the field and set them as captain.
4.   Make sure you have an emergency in the position of your non-playing captain!

Note: This has risks if there are any late withdrawals as you won't have cover.

The facts & thoughts:

Dustin Martin
Last 3: 81 (81 avg)
Last 3 against Collingwood: 54, 80, 101 (78 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 81, 54, 110 (82 avg)

VC only for Dusty this week. He didn't start the year that hot with no defensive effort (so no tackles!). If he lifts, he could score well, but his history against the Pies isn't flash anyway. Prediction - 80

Brodie Grundy
Last 3: 84 (84 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 134, 147, 115 (132 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 84, 99, 134 (106 avg)

Grundy let me down big time last week but I'm backing him in with the VC this week. He didn't look fit against the Cats so I'm far from confident but his record against the Tigers is fantastic. Nankervis usually leaks points to opposition rucks so there's a good chance Brodie will bounce back. Prediction - 120

Matt Crouch
Last 3: 132 (132 avg)
Last 3 against Sydney: 106, 108, 85 (100 avg)
Last 3 at SCG: 31 (31 avg)

Crouch's record against the Swans is nothing special but we all expect big things this season and he's started very well. Small chance he gets tagged but Hewett didn't tag last week and Sloane's the more likely recipient if he does. Prediction - 120

Patrick Cripps
Last 3: 101 (101 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 106, 121, 115 (114 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 82, 121 (102 avg)

Cripps was a bit down on what we expected last week but still serviceable. I wouldn't be taking anyone against Port this week though... not after what they did to Melbourne's midfield. Prediction - 100

Tom Rockliff
Last 3: 166 (166 avg)
Last 3 against Carlton: 95, 44, 174 (104 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 85, 69, 106 (86 avg)

Is Rocky back? 44 touches says yes. Biggest score since his last dominant run at the start of 2017. Between 2014-2016, Rocky scored 153, 95, 143, 184, 174 against the Blues. If you think he's back, he's an obvious choice for the C. Prediction - 130

Patrick Dangerfield
Last 3: 103 (103 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 85, 107, 117 (103 avg)
Last 3 at Kardinia: 158, 115, 66 (113 avg)

Pretty average start for Danger and not great history against the Dees. I'm always tempted by Danger at the Cattery but I'll give him a miss this week. Prediction - 100

Clayton Oliver
Last 3: 73 (73 avg)
Last 3 against Geelong: 99, 136, 114 (116 avg)
Last 3 at Kardinia: 136 (136 avg)

We need Oliver to bounce back this week and his history against the Cats says he will. Treloar was the only ton against the Cats last week but his 125 gives me hope that Oliver could do similar. Prediction - 115

Stephen Coniglio
Last 3: 161 (161 avg)
Last 3 against West Coast: 104, 111, 121 (112 avg)
Last 3 at Perth: 104 (104 avg)

Cogs was huge last week and will likely do the heavy lifting again this week with GWS's depleted midfield. Hutchings is definitely a factor here but Zorko managed 94 against the tag last week and Whitfield might cop it anyway. Prediction - 120

Dayne Zorko
Last 3: 94 (94 avg)
Last 3 against North: 154, 128, 116 (133 avg)
Last 3 at Docklands: 61, 128, 115 (101 avg)

Speaking of Zorko, he's a very good option this week if Jacobs isn't named. 94 despite a tag from Hutchings and a great history against North. No reason he won't go big again. Prediction - 120

Jack Macrae
Last 3: 107 (107 avg)
Last 3 against Hawthorn: 116, 126, 78 (107 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 190, 133, 123 (149 avg)

Saving the best two until the end. Macrae absolutely adores playing on the big MCG and will continue his rich form there against the Hawks this week. You've paid up for him and he'll deliver this week. Prediction - 130

Nat Fyfe
Last 3: 103 (103 avg)
Last 3 against Gold Coast: 144, 132, 121 (132 avg)
Last 3 at Metricon: 119 (119 avg)

Fyfe was managed at the end of the game last week and my biggest concern around him this week is that Freo might smash the Suns by as much as they did the Roos. If that's the case, his scoring may be affected again. All that said, he's incredibly tempting this week. Prediction - 125

LAHUG'S POD!

Rory Sloane
Last 3: 144 (144 avg)
Last 3 against Sydney: 153, 109, 112 (125 avg)
Last 3 at SCG: 109, 62, 90 (87 avg)

I said when talking about Crouch that Sloane's more likely to be tagged... But what if he isn't? Scored 153 against the Swans last time he played and started the year with a huge 144. It'd take a bit of guts but I think he's the most likely player to crack 150 this week. Potential - 150

The verdict:
1.   Jack Macrae (130)
NEW.   Tom Rockliff (130)
2.   Nat Fyfe (125)
3.   Stephen Coniglio (120)
4.   Matt Crouch (120)
5.   Brodie Grundy (120)

Mat0369

Serious case of missing The Pig. Starts the year with a 166. His last two against the Blues are from when he was playing with one arm and an underdone year. In 2016 he went 184 and 174. 2015 was 95 and 143.

Last 6 scores were 95, 44, 174, 185, 143 and 95. That is an average of 122.66 with the 44 in that rotation  :o

ha, ha Mat - feels you brother … ;)

Rocky in pretty much all AF team drafts and then chickened out a couple of days before rd1 kick-off - just had too many mid-price risks in the mids (B Crouch, Sheed, Libba + Rocky was just too much!) - so culled them down from 4 down to 2 and Rocky was out … :(

Great stuff, thanks Huggy bear! :D

Wish I had Coniglio! :(   ;)

I'll have a proper look at Rocky tonight and add him in if need be. Admittedly, I dropped him from my spreadsheet after a couple of down years so I didn't even remember to look at him!

Football Factory

I'd go with Macrae if i had him .. Coniglio for me, hopefully Hutchings doesn't do a job on him

jvalles69

Treloar into Macrae.  Will take anything above 130 for Treloar.

Nice .. Treloar is smashing it, wish i brought him in.

I wanted to VC the pig, won't be around to do it.

Shall i risk it and go Rocky captain  :-\

Chelskiman

I'm going to go Macrae I think.  History says he should smash it...
