Rising Star

NB: qualification  = AFL Rising Star criteria apply, and have to actually have played in the round for a WXV team

Every round, a World XVs rising star nomination is given to a standout young player whom performed well during that particular round. To be eligible to be nominated for the award, a player must be younger than 21 years of age on 1 January of the award year and have played 10 or fewer senior games before the beginning of the season.

Round 1

Rising Star

After a solid 30 or so months fending off the doubters, the Royals can finally retort with confidence. Willem Drew's excellent debut showing of 103 is our first nominee of 2019. However, New Delhi's Sam Taylor (108) would be the nominee if not for some chump like Shane Savage standing in the way, or even Seoul's Bailey Scott (103) could have shared the honours with Drew if played.



Team of the Week

Great to see some players in the team from last years bottom few, with special mentions to Nic Newman (Mexico City) and Dom Sheed (London) in particular. But, it was familiar faces for captaincy honours, with the Bont going gangbusters for Pacific, with good guy Rory Sloane not far behind for Dublin.

Cam McCarthy (Seoul) would have made the team too if selected!

Rising Star

It was an inevitable nomination, with Mexico City's Sam Walsh (112) validating all reports of his prowess. Connor Rozee (116) would have otherwise taken out the Round 3 nomination if not for his efforts last week, whilst Walsh's teammate Charlie Constable (99) was runner-up (if played in seniors).
