Bones Bombers

Just decided to start a season diary to keep track of the changes to the team from the start. Not usually good at continuing after a few rounds but I'll see how I go this year!

**WARNING**
Mid price madness ahead!

I am well aware they aren't all likely to work out but hopefully some do and the others can be downgraded/upgraded when the performing players are clearer. I can't decide on any premiums other than those I have so I'll give the others time to become clear and go from there. I'm hoping for a pretty good round 1 score from this team.

Also pending selections obviously.

Here we go:

Laird, Williams, B.Smith, Ridley, Collins, Clark (Duursma, Hore)

Macrae, Cripps, Oliver, B.Crouch, Sheed, Libba, Walsh, Butters (Constable, B.Scott, Atkins)

Grundy, Gawn (Bines)

Dangerfield, Heeney, Kelly, Greene, Setterfield, Drew (Balta, Parker)

$2,700 left which isn't good but still should be a few rookie options available if needed.

Bring on the games already!

Hey mate,

As you've already stated, the mid-pricers are a massive risk, with pretty limited history to suggest success. I read that last year the players between 250k-450k were about a 4% success rate to become worthy of a 'keeper' spot.

With that in mind, I can see only 9 players who are likely keepers, with another 6 that are stepping stones or a chance to succeed
- Williams (pretty decent chance to become D6)
- Smith (if he can get to 90-odd could be ok at D6)
- Crouch
- Sheed
- Libba (stepping stone, unlikely to hit keeper level imo)
- Greene (again, like Williams, could be a decent forward if he can stay healthy)

The biggest risk with this setup is that you are forced to deal with other LTIs or more pressing issues and get 'stuck' with these blokes clogging up your team. If Crouch averages 95-100 it's not the worst for cash generation, but is borderline disastrous if he gets stuck at M8 when other teams have a 105-110 player there.

Good luck anyway!

Will definitely require some smart trading and plenty of luck.
At least all of these guys have shown some signs of what they are capable of if fit and playing at their best. Even if they haven't been able to put it all together yet/lately.
Gotta risk it for the biscuit! Most years I play it safe and finish reasonably high in the rankings but not right up the top which gets pretty boring. Last season was my worst but my risks weren't as calculated as this year. I think!

#3
Made 2 trades before round 2, Ridley to Wilkie and Greene to Worpel.
Only time will tell if they were the right moves. Disappointing to lose Ridley but Worpel looks like a good pickup.

Laird, Williams, B Smith, Collins, Clarke, Duursma (Wilkie, Hore)
Macrae, Cripps, Oliver, B Crouch, Sheed, Libba, Walsh, Scott (Butters, Constable, Atkins)
Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
Danger, Heeney, T Kelly, Worpel, Setterfield, Drew (Balta, Parker)

Heeney to Boak a real possibility this week. Just need to hear a little bit more on Heeney’s ankle injury but what I’ve seen so far hasn’t been good.
Also depending on selections Hore to Scrimshaw a maybe.

_wato

Don't trade Heeney mate, I seem to be in the minority by thinking it's a silly move.

Also not keen on Hore to Scrim just yet. Wait for teams.

Bones Bombers

Sorry I didn't see this earlier Wato. It may well have been a silly move trading Heeney! I very nearly held him but went with my gut and moved him on for Boak. This week it didn't cost me points wise, only a possibly wasted trade. Only time will tell if it was indeed wasted. I believe Boak is playing majority midfield while Heeney plays more time forward so we will see which one sores more consistently and therefore who ends up being Top 6 calibre in the SC forward line.

Also went with the Hore to Scrimshaw trade. Hopefully that one is a good one.
Corrective trades are over now!

Laird, Williams, B. Smith, Clarke, Duursma, Scrimshaw (Collins, Wilkie)
Macrae, Cripps, Oliver, Sheed, Brouch, Libba, Walsh, Constable (Butters, Scott, Atkins)
Grundy, Gawn (Captain Bines)
Danger, T. Kelly, Boak, Worpel, Drew, Parker (Setterfield, Balta)

Laird and B. Smith are letting the backline down so might need something there soon. Not sure how many weeks that will have to wait while some cows moo.
