Rebuilt my side this morning starting with my favourite rookies regardless of line + Roberton/Greene then filling premos around them. Pretty set on this structure and will cut and change rookies come selections or if there are any bolters this weekend. Only other fiddling I hope to do is find the change to go from Neale up to Kelly just because I prefer Kelly, but really happy with the rest of the side so struggling to find any $$$.

Would love to hear thoughts if people are willing to share them!

kilbluff1985

looks good m8

i dont think Scrimshaw is worh the extra coin over a Burgess

u obv know ur mids are a bit weak i have had a similar structure in and out will depend on rookies playing round 1 which i go for

larryboei

Exact same midfield as mine except 1 bench rookie. Similar everywhere else. I like Brodie Smith ahead of Roberton, Not a fan of Gray, I prefer Devon Smith but he has stunk it up in the JLT. I don’t really have a critique though. Too similar to mine. Good team

Cheers fellas, really appreciate it

I really back Scrimshaw and that was confirmed last night. Worst case scenario with a higher priced rookie like him is you can assess first 2 rounds then make a correction. It is easier to go down to Burgess than to go up from Burgess

Mid structure, assuming Constable gets a run I think will get more overall point and cash generation running an 4 mid/2 fwd rookies than 3 mid/3 fwd. I think Constable/Hately will be a consistent 60-65+ and Balta/Parker/Cav will have some sub 50s as your final onfield rookie.

Also think Gray has been slept on a lot, has been a consistent 90+ for the last 5 years, and when he pushes midfield his average goes into the 105-110 range. I think he is one of the safer bets to hit top 10. Expecting a fall off from Dev out of the top 10

Love the team, I'd maybe get rid of Greene for a rookie, he looked terrible yesterday. One mid short, but you can't have everyone. Really like the team.

Pretty certain I'll be heading in with this.

Some thoughts...
-Instinctively, the backline seems light. One answer is Collins, I'm not sold on him at his price. Collins making 150k means he will need to average 70, which I see as his ceiling and to me is more likely in the 60-65 range. While paying for JS is worthwhile, the tradeoff with Collins at D4 came down to Fyfe/123k or M.Crouch/Collins. Thinking Fyfe's upside is unlimited, where M.Crouch's is 110 max.

-Another answer is Brodie Smith, but his scoring history does little to suggest he breaks 80-85. Given 40% are running him, I think theres big upside of going against the crowd.

-Really like my mids, I'm expecting Oliver/Cripps/Fyfe to be top 5 performers by average, and really back Dusty and Brayshaw to get to 110. If Brayshaw tanks, I also like Sloane, Steele and Taranto in that price range, and can make an early correction if needbe.
Would love to have Macrae, can't find the money without giving up a keeper for a midpricer

-Wish I had 50k to go Darling to Dunkley, but Darling is high in my preferences. Averaged 97 injury free last year which gets him in last year's top 10 averages. Similar to Brayshaw, there is a risk he flops, and if so I'll be looking towards Billings, Petracca, Worpel and Wingard

#6
ROUND 2 UPDATE

Haven't had the best start to the season, but still feeling confident I can trade into a good rank as I have done so in previous years.
I traded Balta to Parker after Round 1

The issues I have in my side
1) Martin
2) Hore
3) Greene
4) Heeney

Pretty keen to drop Martin, have little confidence in him after last round's form, and more importantly, the Riewoldt injury will mean he will be seeing more forward time. Think Hore will come back in this round, but if not can have a look at Lockhart next week. Heeney definitely deserves another run is week, very proven premo and will be producing premium output when injury free regardless of role.

The players I am considering this round are
1) Macrae
2) Newman
3) Brodie Smith
4) Darcy Moore
5) Libba

I ended up dropping Macrae down to Martin late in the preseason for structural reasons and I really don't believe Macrae will fall in price. He is playing Gold Coast this round so is a priority.
My pre-season thoughts on Smith and Moore have been way off. I didn't see Moore averaging above 65, but appears to be at worst a 70 average player. Smith also appears as if he could be a borderline premo and fine as a D6.
Really like what I am seeing from Newman after being hestitant during the preseason. Definitely to go to guy off half back with Docherty absent.

Will continue to play around with trades but at this stage have settled on are...
Martin to Macrae
Greene to Moore

Mat0369

Trading hard but it looks like a good base to work with. Brayshaw bounced back this week so it's looking like a good POD. Hopefully Darling strings a few together as well.

Ended up going
Dusty > LDU
Hore > Newman

Not looking like horrible trades at this stage, but will update come end of the round
