In typical Huggy fashion, I'm making my first teams post JLT1 and probably made some bad decisions based on a pre-season of zoning out and knee-jerking single games. Please help me right the ship.

There doesn't appear to be a whole lot wrong with this one, Huggy. Especially since it's a first crack.

The appears to be a wealth of value down back, picking the right ones will be key as there are undoubtedly a couple of traps amongst them.

Looks like we're gonna have a stack of mid rookies to choose from and I think it's almost worth dropping one of the Crouch brothers or Libba in favour of one of them.

Personally I'm not overly sold on the idea of starting 3 fwd rookies, would rather the extra premo or midpricer there.

I think you're certainly on the right track though.

Thanks Nige. I've been trying to find a good way to get the cash for stronger forwards. I also wanted Walsh. There's so many midpricers I'm tempted to get and that might be my downfall. I'll look at potentially downgrading one of those three to Walsh and upgrading a forward rookie to someone better. Not sure who the good forward midpricers are though?

Money Shot

A lot of mid pricers and players that really need to take it to the next level in this team! However this allows you to have only 6 on field rookies with most having 7-8. If these mid price picks work out you will be well in front of the pack.

Personally I like Roberton more than Smith.

But apart from that I can’t really fault it.

LaHug

Ok, I've done the following which I think really strengthens the team. Thanks for the push in the right direction, team!

B Crouch to Walsh
Ryan to Roberton
Dusty up to Macrae (huge for captaincy reasons I feel)
Worpel to Wingard (health pending)
Cavarra to Greene (one less forward rookie)

Still gives me only 6 rookies on the field but shifts the midpricers out of the mids and into the backline.

If Wingard's out though, I only have $2200 in the bank which makes finding a replacement very difficult...

Ok with all of them except wingard.  why the wingard love huggy.   and would drop brodie to roberton, you probably need the cash from Ryan.

I love Wingard because I think he plays almost pure mid this year with Mitchell out. There's a chance he plays JLT2 so I'll be watching that with interest. I needed the cash from Ryan to Roberton to get Dusty. I also think Smith can average 85-90 and he's priced at 61 so he's 20-25 points underpriced.

Do correct me if I'm insane though :P

I was under the impression that Wingrd wouldn’t be ready for round 1. If he is though he will be tempting.

I see roberton as more likely to go 90+ than bsmith.   if def avgs drop back to low 90's smith may not be much off the mark.  Roberton is cheaper and likely to match or better BSmith.  just one man's opinion.

Maybe I need to watch Wingard more.  If he gets the mid time and remain injury free could do mate.  go for it.

I now have Roberton and Smith in my team... I think both are very underpriced and the extra cash is well worth it. Of course, that may all change over the next week...

Yeah, I'll make my final Wingard decision on if he plays this week.

Glenmaggie

Love the team, I'm not sold on worpel at that price, but the balance is nice

I don't even recognise my first team any more with the number of changes I've made but here's an update. I really want to find cash to get better rookies (Butters!) but I don't know how to...

It's a very nice team so I see the dilemma.
I guess it depends on which player you want least.
Maybe downgrade Robbo to Scrimshaw and then get Butters.
Idk LaHug, tough decisions mate.

If Robbo's out, it's really easy to get Collins or Scrimshaw and use that cash. If he's named though, I don't want to drop him. There could be a slightly cheaper option for Hurn or I could downgrade a mid premium to a cheaper one but the four I've picked I'm super confident on...

Obviously very sad news, but does make your decision easier
