I would seriously consider downgrading Kennedy to a rookie and getting gawn or Grundy into the team. You will eventually need them both or you'll haemorrhage points. Nice pics though

Yeah...thats what I have been looking at. I'm just not settled on having three rookies on the field down forward.
I know what you mean, I've just changed from 2 to 3 in the forward line. I've gone both gawn and Grundy this year. Just think I'll miss too many points early and saves 2 trades long term. Good luck

Sven

Okay.

Got. To. Stop. Changing. Team.

I've been able to fit in Grundy, and I'm okay with everything now. Looks solid.

Sven

Hi Supercoachers,

Time for a good ol' fashioned Team A or Team B. I've been able to fit Grundy in, but I'd love to run 5 premo mids deep in the midfield. So I played around a bit and came up with the following scenarios.

Team A

Team B

Essentially, the differences are:

A: Witherden, Macrae, Libba, Menegola, JJK

vs.

B: Roberton, Fyfe, Neale, Kelly, Greene.

Bit of a tough one, not sure which I prefer. Keen to get peoples thoughts.

Money Shot

Roberton is extremely good value for money so I would choose him.
Fyfe has the same scoring potential as Macrae he just needs to stay on the park.
Neale is obviously heaps better than Libba and should be a top 8 mid although Libba isn’t a bad pick by any means.
Kelly vs Menegola is a flip of the coin in my eyes. Kelly is cheaper though ;)
Greene better value for money than JJK.

For me team B but it isn’t an easy pick.

Yeah, is a tough one!

I do like Roberton and is in the mix to make the final side.

I think I might give Fyfe a miss, you're right, his durability is too much of an issue.

I'd like to get Menegola in over Kelly if I can, but yeah they are interchangable.

Not sure if I agree about JJK v Greene. Reckon JJK will average higher than Greene by the end of the season and JJK ceiling is far higher. Both will still average 90+. but I also worry about Greene's injury and more importantly, his temper.

Team B for me as well. (except for B.Smith - he is on my never again list but may work for you if he can start playing ok interstate)
.
Fyfe/Freo has a very nice opening run of games which will ease him in nicely. Macrae will lose $50k I reckon early (may get back up there and should be a top 5 mid though).

I like the T.Kelly option fwd. Rooks are wait and see R1 but don't like Valente chances and may need to find some more $$ for that spot.

What a difference a few days can make!  ::) Not to mention a few minutes, they way my team keeps changing.  8)

Few standout performers that just had to make their way into my side - welcome Brad Crouch, Stephen Coniglio and Dom Sheed!

Rookies have changed around and will continue up until the lockout, but I'm rather happy with it all at the moment for the next few hours at least...

DEF: Fair change with Laird, Witherden and Collins all out, making way for Whitfield, Ridley and Scrimshaw. Williams is also a watch and see after his ankle knock in JLT1 though, but man this line is tough this season. The new kick in rules don't seem to be making a huge difference like we expected. :-X

Players that could make it in: Laird, Hurn, Collins.

MID: Is Sheed at M6 too deep? ??? Lot of cash spent here, but there's a lot of points that will set me in good stead early. Rookies are proving difficult as it does every year, so a mid-pricer at M6 felt right.

Players that could make it in: J Kelly (where's he been hiding?), Neale, M Crouch, Libba, Walsh, LDU, other rookies.

RUC: More than happy there, next.

FWD: This hasn't changed much at all, with the only the one change here. Greene out, JJK in. Yes, JJK hasn't played any JLT matches and is 50-50 to be fit for Round 1, but it's been hard to leave him out as he's underpriced and has a massive ceiling.

Players that could make it in: Menegola, Dunkley, Greene, L McCarthy.

Just watch the byes as nearly all your 14 prems keepers have the rd 13 and 14 byes,

Regarding teams think Brodie Smith may be a little weak at D3 though. So maybe try and play ro get him to D4 by palying around with team.

Good luck

Mat0369

Some really good boom or bust prospects in Crouch/Sheed in the middle. Not sure how I would feel picking JJK after he didn't play a JLT game. It might be worth turning either one of those two guys into Walsh and using the cash to upgrade Kennedy.

I'd probably also start Drew in your forward line since you probably don't want Burgess as anything more than a slow burn F8/D8

Sven

Right.

After god knows how many minutes, hours, days, weeks, months of research and changing my team every couple of minutes....

I'm finally happy with my current team and ready for the teamsheets to tear my plans to shreds.

DEF: After much deliberation, I've gone with two premos. Gives my backline far better stability after the fizzling impact of the new kick-in rules. Lloyd and Whitfield will be top defenders by the end of the season, and hopefully Williams too if he gets back to his best. Smith was a given as the midpricer, followed by rookies to finish the line off. Done.  8)

MID: In previous iterations, my midfield had been stacked with Sheed or Libba at M6. This is no longer the case, freeing up some cash for other lines. Macrae, Cripps, Oliver were locks and Conilgio was hard to go past after JLT, but I am wary of Kelly, who hasn't been sighted. Similarly Sheed is my mid-pricer here, after his recent performances, hoping to use him as a stepping stone to a premium that falls. Walsh, Butters, Constable round out the line as per most teams....  ::)

RUC: The one line that hasn't changed in the last 3 iterations. Grunstein for 2019!  ;D

FWD: 3 premos here instead of the 2. F3 has proven to be one of the bigger headaches. Would have loved to gone with JJK as the fallen premium, but it leaves the line looking a little weak overall, so I'm happy with the choices there. Moore looking to breakout after an encouraging JLT series and the only player to really be taking the majority of kick outs and benefiting from that. Setterfield, Drew, Petreccelle and Parker round out the forward line.  :)

Overall: I'm happy with the overall structure. 12 premos, 3 mid pricers and 7 rookies. Been able to fit in all the players I wanted except for JJK, but Dunkley a stronger pick.  :D

"If" I was wanting to alter the side, it would only be to bring in some PODs. Looking at Simpson, Hurn, Short, Ridley in defence, Gaff (after Rd 3), Sloane, Zorko in the mids and Mengola, Robinson, McCarthy up forward.

Bring on Season 2019!!

Love this side.. very similar structure to mine. Would sit till we can all sort the rookies out b4 round 1.
Am tossing up Moore at D4, hope he has an injury free start. Good luck.

Definitely sitting tight for now.  :D

It was a coin toss between Moore and McCarthy as they are both priced similarly. Moore just won out.

Ringo

Just personal but would only have one of Macrae or Lloyd as I doubt both will keep up the scoring of last year and may fall. Plenty of options to downgrade one and upgrade elsewherr if need be.

Solid team though,

PureSwag

Like the team, lot of mid pricers which is a bit risky but could work out. Like Ringo stated downgrade one of Macrae or Llyod and upgrade a midpricer or two to a prem.

Solid team though,

Thanks for the feedback PureSwag and Ringo. I'm backing Macrae and Lloyd in for another big year, and it's hard to start without them.

Plus if I was to downgrade both of them, it doesn't generate me that much cash. I played around with the side, and if Macrae became Martin and Lloyd became Simpson, the best I could do with the mid-pricers was to upgrade Sheed to M Crouch, or B Smith to H Shaw, or Moore to JJK.

Sheed to Crouch is clearly the best option there, but I don't feel that there's significant value in this approach, unless your sole purpose is to save a trade. Lloyd will average 110 again, Macrae 120 and Sheed will average 100 over the season, but he'll be traded after his price rises to match a fallen premium. Simpson will average 100, Dustin 110 and Crouch 110, so I'm still 10 points short overall just to save a trade.

Appreciate the thought, but I don't want to start off on the back foot points wise.

If you had another idea for the downgrades, be more than happy to hear it. :)
