2019 surely can't be as bad as the previous 2 years?

This is what I am currently sitting on. $33,300 cash left. Probably a bit too cookie cutter to my liking and obviously rookies are placeholders.

Def: Laird, Whitfield, Ryan, Roberton, Duursma, Burgess (McLennan, Hore)
Mid: Cripps, Oliver, Martin, Beams, M.Crouch, Hately, Stocker, Constable (North, Bewley, Hind)
Ruck: Grundy, Gawn (Fort)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Heeney, D.Smith, Setterfield, Corbett, Cavarra (Mosquito, I.Hill)

We say that each year surely improvement and hopefully we will.

Good team to sit on and watch the JLT for those PODs to bring in. Love the Beams pick.

5 deep in the mids actually seems like a bit of a POD so far from what I've seen. Most (myself included) have Miles M5 at this stage.

Rucks and fwds exact same as me, defence basically the same as well. So I'm a fan haha

This is what I am sitting on currently after a few big re shuffles.

Def: L.Whitfield, C.Mills, Z.Williams, B.Smith , S.Collins, J.Scrimshaw (J.Clark, M.Hore)
Mid: J.Macrae, P.Cripps, C.Oliver, M.Crouch, B.Crouch, J.Cousins, S.Walsh, Z.Butters (C.Constable, B.Scott, M.Gibbons)
Ruck: B.Grundy, M.Gawn (P.Bines)
Fwd: P.Dangerfield, I.Heeney, T.Greene, D.Moore, W.Setterfield, W.Drew (C.Burgess, J.Petrucelle)

If most of those mid-priced picks pay off (Mills, Smith, BCrouch, Greene, Moore), you'll be laughing. Heard anything from GWS on Greene in their intra-club? If I hear he's played majority of the game and pulled up well, I might try to squeeze him in.

Would prefer not to start Moore and find another cheap rookie but they look thin on the ground - at the price seems to be worth the risk.

Have flexibility there with some of the rookies priced players picked to bring in cheaper rookies if they eventuate and then bring higher priced premos in.

Smith taking the kick ins and sucking some of Laird's points and  Mills more midfield time will IMO see them improve and be solid options. The upside IMO outweighs the risk.

Greene and Crouch both are keepers as long as they stay on the park - personally don't see a lot of risk with those 2.

Try not to make drastic

dont like fyfe? would go him over oliver for bye reasons

Like this team AK.   Similar to me I have gone down to M7 for Libba.
Greene will score just depends how much time he spends on the park.  Moore is stepping stone and given shortage of quality fwd rooks is worth the punt.    Libba should make for decent m9 depending on how many trades and cash is available later in the season.

Mills is a question mark.  Very talented and no reason he cannot continue to improve in SC if he spends more time on ball or playing the run with ball role down back.   Just really hard to predict how he will be used.

B Crouch is more than capable of being a keeper at m6-8 come years end.   We are punting on him staying on field.   If not trade to prem who has dropped in price.

Well made a couple of changes. Didn't work out well at all.

I am happy with my team. Some crappy scores from premiums and wrong rookie choices mean I have the worst ever rank during the time I have kept records (from the start of 2013) after scoring 1891. Ranked 106,392

Def: J.Crisp (83), C.Mills (79), Z.Williams (82), B.Smith (81), S.Collins (27), J.Clark (69)  Bench - X.Duursma (67), M.Hore (58)

Mid: P.Cripps (126), C.Oliver (71), D.Martin (109), M.Crouch (138), B.Crouch (91), S.Walsh (68), Z.Butters (67), C.Constable (85) Bench B.Scott (103), C.Wagner (61), T.Atkins (57)

Ruck: B.Grundy (C) (81), M.Gawn (87) Bench P.Bines

Fwd: P.Dangerfield (97), I.Heeney (85), T.Boak (119), T.Greene (78), W.Setterfield (69), N.Balta (18) Bench W.Drew (103), J.Petrucelle (44)

With the right rookies on field and keeping Cripps score as VC would have got just under 2100 so despite the horror round am not panicking yet. Will monitor things but likely no trades this week.

Thought I should update this.

So ranking slowly going in the right direction after a good week last week. Still poor but can only improve off the disaster start to the year.

Round 1 - Score 1891 Overall Rank 106392
Round 2 - Score 2164 Round Rank 51793 Overall 85051
Round 3 - Score 2253 Round Rank 30216 Overall 61823
Round 4 - Score 2070 Round Rank 72125 Overall 64307
Round 5 - Score 2253 Round Rank 4362 Overall 46521

Trades done

Round 2 - Balta to Parker
Round 3 - Greene to Moore, Mills to Kelly
Round 4 - Dusty to Libba
Round 5 - Parker to Ross, Butters to Daniel
Round 6 - Wagner to Lockhart, Collins to Simpson.

My current team after trades this week of Wagner to Lockhart and Collins to Simpson is:

Def: Simpson, Crisp, Williams, Smith, Moore, Hore (Clark, Lockhart)
Mid: Cripps, Oliver, M.Crouch, Liberatore, B.Crouch, Walsh. Constable, Ross (Duursma, Adkins, Scott)
Ruck: Grundy, Gawn (Bines)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Boak, Heeney, Kelly, Daniel, Drew (Petrucelle, Setterfield)

22 trades and $12500 cash.

Priority is to upgrade D5, D6 and F6. Trying to trade to get Whitfield and potentially Lloyd into defense the main priority at this stage.

Mids such as Fyfe and Conigs on the watchlist as well but mid rookies are doing well.

Thought I would update this. Scored 2475 and made a decent jump up the ranking this week.

Checked my rankings from last year - My best overall rank this year during the first 10 weeks (28347) was worse than my worst overall rank in the first 10 weeks of 2018 (26117).

However after this weeks score I am now in a higher ranking than the same time last year (18767 compared to 21200)

Have used 2 more trades compared to last year however to try and move up and cover some damage.

Round 1 -  Score 1891 Overall Rank 106392
