The less people that have Macrae the better. I'll bank his 150s every other week  :P

Thats what i expected from Dusty in 2018, after pumping out those number in 2017.

Macrae isn't gonna be sat at full forward half the time

Patrick Dangerfield
Nathan Fyfe
Gary Ablett
Scott Pendelbury
Dane Swan

its a hard thing to do. Ill back the odds and assume he doesnt.

The thing I think of though is what mids are capable of going 120+ this year. Danger is a forward.

Cripps could - most have him
Dusty could - good value there
Fyfe could - never plays a full season
Macrae could - probably the most likely of the lot.

We might have zero mids go 120+ this year. We might just have 1, 2 or 3.

Macrae has shown he is capable, but that doesn't guarantee that he will do it again this year

I don't really put any emphasis on 120 to be honest - I look for guys who I think can break above 110 because I feel like 105-110 is where a lot of good mids can max out at, but it's the rarer group that can actually punch through that 110 wall and push 115+, and they are the guys to try and pick

This is nothing but pure speculation, but the guys who I think are actually capable of pushing that 115+ region are Fyfe, Cripps, Macrae, Oliver, Dusty. Kelly, Neale and Zerrett I would have just outside, in the 110-114 range

That's just me guessing though - nobody knows.

I've listed Macrae as someone who can but that's only because he already has. I honestly don't think he will this year. Will still be more than good enough for a Top mid spot, but I reckon he comes back to the 105-115 range

You're probably right but of those guys I have Cripps locked and Dusty because of value and Neale because he's as safe as houses but when picking my 4th mid I think Fyfe is a star but I don't trust him to play 20+ games, Oliver with the double shoulder surgery (would have picked him otherwise) Zerrett I had until he hurt his calf. Leaves Macrae and Kelly and I just feel like Macrae is the better chance to go big

I had Neale forever too, but I reckon Zerrett can potentially match him for 60k cheaper. He only sprained an ankle so I''m not worried about that

I agree, Cripps and Dusty are locked for me too for the same reasons you've said. Fyfe is the other guy I have currently - I know he misses games, but so far he has had a completely full preseason, so that's why I'm willing to give him a shot because he is one of the very few I think can go 120+

Cripps, Fyfe, Dusty, POD, Miles is what I am looking at for now

So often we all go down the cookie cutter route, and that's because it works, but I'm going to try my best to take a risk on a low ownership POD for M4 just for something different and exciting.

I'm intrigued. You've got me guessing who it is now haha

I’m not sold on Dusty. He’s only ever had 1 super premo year and to me he just doesn’t look hungry enough anymore. He always had mid year stinkers as well

Pretty sure he was carrying niggles last year. Still averaged 104 kicked 30 goals and made AA team.
His tackles dropped from usual 4 per game to 2. Just getting those 2 tackles back he'll go 112.
I'm not expecting 120+ (although it's totally possible) but 110 average for 560k outlay is still a bargain in my book.
As for hunger, you could be right, but after being kicked out of finals by Collingwood in a game he clearly wasn't right in will be enough to regain his mojo.

Two things to consider imo - Martin was tagged four times when he played predominantly midfield last season and can’t handle it very well. Fundamentally we are usually going to have 13 premiums, if you pay top dollar for Macrae, then something else has to give; he didn’t have Libba or Wallis (until later) taking his points and the Doggies had to move Bont forward, which gave Macrae the opportunity for bigger scores, which he took. He has to come down in price, giving everyone the chance to get him later, if we wish. In the meantime, make money off the extra decent rookie to later get the super premium mid - whoever he is. Not taking either and will have to live with the good or bad consequences

Yep, great points.

Pretty well known fact that Dusty was injured most of the year.

He was never gonna back up going 119, every knew that too, his 2017 was that good and emulating it was never gonna happen.

Should easily go 110 or very close to it this year which at his starting price means it'd be beyond nutty to not start him.

RaisyDaisy

I remember clearly in 2015 I started Danger at 567k and he was a POD because he was MID only as well

In 2014 he dropped to a 105avg after his previous two years being 113 and 119, and everybody jumped off

As the season went on everyone started jumping back on board. I feel like this is the exact same situation with Dusty now. He's had a down year after a massive year so the doubts and questions get asked, but like I did with Danger in 2015 I'll be backing Dusty to bounce back strongly

Funnily enough, Danger went on to avg 120 in 2015 :)

frenzy

Reckon this bloke backed it up and should be in the conversation. 110,117,111,117,118,120,104,111. Mr. Jelwood.  ;)

Last two years has seen him regress to 102,105. There's been a definite changing of the guard with mid premos, as blokes like Selwood, Pendles, JPK slow down while the likes of Oliver, Kelly, Cripps take over.
I expect a 105 ish average again, not bad but not enough to be a top mid
