I'm having difficulty deciding on which Premium Mids I actually want to start

e is expensive andMacra hasn't backed it up
Cripps seems like a lock

Oliver and Kelly have both had interrupted preseasons
Fyfe never plays 22 matches
Neale is quite attractive, but Bris have a lot of mids too
Gaff, Yeo could be great POD's
Treloar, Beams all the Pies don't interest me as who know's who will score the most
Ablett, Duncan, Jelwood don't interest me - same as Collingwood
Dusty is pretty much a lock and great value
Crouch and Merrett are also great value for money

I feel like I need to be starting 2-3 600kish guys, but I am seriously tempted to chase the value and pick guys who have proven they can go 110+

Dusty, Crouch, Merrett, and maybe just 1 of the 600k guys

Feels wrong, but could be right

Has Patrick Cripps backed it up and isn't he also expensive

Good point Frenzy.  Both look as good as each other.

Cripps
2014: 3 games for 39.3
2015: 20 games for 96.3
2016: 21 games for 107.6
2017: 15 games for 97.7
2018: 22 games for 119.4

Macrae
2013: 13 games for 61.3
2014: 21 games for 100
2015: 20 games for 99.5
2016: 18 games for 93.9
2017: 22 games for 107
2018: 19 games for 127

RaisyDaisy

Does Cripps have 5+ other good mids cutting his lunch?

No

It's Cripps then absolute daylight, whilst Macrae has Libba, McLean, Wallis, Hunter, Bont, Dunkley etc

Cripps, Fyfe and Dusty are very appealing to me, for that very reason - they have no one close enough to them who will cut their lunch as much, as I expect Dusty to play more mid now that Lynch has arrived

I guess the big difference between the two from an SC perspective is Cripps is the main man in an otherwise sub-par midfield. Macrae has Bont, Dunkley, Libba, Hunter alongside him.
It means Cripps can get a bigger share of points, but will be first tagged every time.
However will teams start tagging Macrae instead of Bont? First game vs Swans and Hewett will be very telling.

Macrae has had these guys in some form for the past 5 years too.  I'm rethinking Macrae myself and just playing devils advocate.  Think there is a fair argument to start with Macrae, I may start him in AF, but not in SC at this stage.

Lol, so Cripps under achieved in 2018, because he only went 119. and Macrae over achieved because he's competed with so many.

shaker

This all raises another question with the reduced players allowed in the midfield at centre bounces will teams be willing to put a tagger in instead of one of there premo mids ?

Cripps didn't under achieve, but Macrae certainly overachieved

Other than GAJ and Swanny, how many other players in the history of SC have gone back to back 120+ seasons?

If I had to chose if Macrae was going 120+ or below this year, I'd certainly be picking below. So yeah, he overachieved last year imo

Dangerfield Pendlebury Fyfe, But Cripps hasn't gone 120 yet. The point I'm making is it takes a special player to 120+ and I think you feel Jack fluked it.

I don't think he fluked it but I do think he probably overachieved and won't back it up - my worry is that I'm not sure he will back it up due to various reasons such as Libba returning, Bont getting better, Dunkley/McLean going up again etc

Just as well Stringer left the dogs as he was very good at cutting lunch

The less people that have Macrae the better. I'll bank his 150s every other week  :P
