Feel like we need a thread to discuss all things relating prem mids

Who will you be starting and why? Who do you think might be better not starting and waiting/hoping they drop in price? Who do you like in the 500-575k range? And so on

Two things I've been looking at when trying to decide which prem mids to start is how many times they scored 130+ (good enough captain score, and killer when you don't have them) and how many times they score below 100, to find out who are the most consistent and providing that regular ton score

Note: I'm just using 2018 scores for this and not going to look at every single player for this, but I've looked at all the guys who I think most people will be considering. Obviously players might improve, decline or bounce back from a down year so those are things we just have to make gut calls on

Captain My Captain (Scored 130+)
Jackson Macrae - 10
Patrick Cripps - 7
Clayton Oliver - 5
Nat Fyfe - 5 (15 games)
Josh Kelly - 5 (15 games)
Lachie Neale - 5
Adam Treloar - 2 (13 games)
Marcus Bontempelli - 3
Dustin Martin - 5
Dayne Beams - 5
Matt Crouch - 1
Zach Merrett - 1

Mr Consistent (100+ scores)
Jackson Macrae - 16 from 19 games
Patrick Cripps - 16 from 22 games (Of the 6 below 100, only 1 was below 90 and that was injury game)
Clayton Oliver - 16 from 22 games
Nat Fyfe - 11 from 15 games
Josh Kelly - 7 from 15 games
Lachie Neale - 16 from 22 games
Adam Treloar - 10 from 13 games
Marcus Bontempelli - 12 from 19 games
Dustin Martin - 10 from 21 games
Dayne Beams - 13 from 21 games
Matt Crouch - 12 from 18 games
Zach Merrett - 15 from 22 games (Round 1 injury game so possibly 16)

Not really sure that makes things any easier  ;D

#1
Argument to include Macrae though getting stronger.  Tossing up between Oliver/Macrae

Other one to consider what will Fyfe do with Neales departure?

Looking at all those number together, it makes me think:

- why do I have Fyfe/Kelly in over Oliver
- is Dusty worth it
- Neale and Cripps are my lockity locks
- rethinking Macrae as my top mid

bowyanger

Cripps - full pre season and isn't going to get any worse. I reckon he will be top scorer this year. Replaces Titch in my side as perma captain / loophole play

Bont, Zerrett, Martin & Fyfe - Full pre season, can increase PPG off the back of an indifferent 2018 which presents good bang for your buck.
Not sure I will be able to start all 4 but will be happy trying to build my team around any 4 of them

Macrae will be my upgrade target along with bolters that come through

I wouldnt doubt that a few pies will be in the top 10....their onball brigade is insane and opposition coaches are going to have their work cut out - they cant tag them all.... I wouldnt be surprised if Adams goes bang

Awesome work RD, makes it easier looking at it in that format!

I too think Cripps can go even bigger this year with a bit more experience around him and hopefully players like Kennedy, Setterfield on the park to give him a chop out.
Fyfe is another one that I feel can up his average this year to his 2014/15 standards.

Cripps, Fyfe, Oliver, Macrae, Kelly, Neale & Dusty are the premos I will be looking at.

Will Dusty revert back to 2017 beast status with the inclusion of Lynch? Won't need to spend as much time forward, playing predominantly mid. Not sure what his percentages were last year, but he went forward quite a bit.

With the inclusion of Shiel, will Zerrett be worth a look? I read an article stating that he tended to butcher the footy going forward quite a bit. I could be wrong, but not sure he has the ceiling of some of the others?

Staying away from Matt Crouch this year. Got sucked in last year by his 2017 finish. As mentioned previous, he needs to rack up about 40 disposals to get a decent score. The inclusion of his brother probably wont help things either. I'd prefer to look at Sloane if anyone from the Crows as a premo.

Aanyone considering Brayshaw?  Think he could become a premo, when he was thrown in the guts in the 2nd half of the year his CP numbers skyrocketed.  Interestingly Oliver's didn't drop during this period.

Thankfully, you haven’t included my POD - 4 over 130 and 16 over 100. Only tagged once and only one injury affected score.

Well like I said, I've only done this for the common players most people will be considering, so that means no POD's

Gotta keep those to myself ;)

Nope

I'm calling BS Pete! I can't see any mid I didn't list that went 16 100+ and 4 130+. Yeo was close, but not that

Maybe he's talking about Sidebottom ?

Nope

I've literally looked at all mids that went 100+ and I couldn't find one that scored as well as he says, and that isn't on my list

Well if you count his 100 score + finals, then he fits that criteria exactly.

SilverLion

Macrae definitely an option, but at his price it might be best to wait and see how the inclusion of Libba and roles of Dunkley/McLean/Wallis may effect him.

Cripps, Fyfe, Oliver you know what you're gunna get from.

Kelly coming off an injury riddled season, otherwise same as above.

Neale and Yeo are my PoDs atm. Neale looking less and less a Pod though.

MCrouch, Merrett, Martin probably the best of the next tier down.

Well yes, he is obviously referring to Yeo then, but I have not included finals scoring in the OP results which is why I mentioned he was close, but not it

At this stage running with
Macrae, Cripps, Fyfe, Kelly, Dusty.

Was all over Oliver like a rash but done some deeper research and don't like what I see, plus shoulder surgery is a negative.

Others I'm considering are Neale and Crouch.
