The game against Adelaide means he’s underpriced.

Very very tempting. I think the guy who made the most of the injuries was Dunkley, think he is a massive trap.

Wallis isn’t a shoe in for games with the dogs so I don’t think he’s largely relevant. Libba won’t hamper him.
I think the biggest change for Macrae was his inside work along with his increase in disposals. Clearances up from 3.9 > 6.2, CP’s from 10.9 > 13.4 and his metres gained from 258 to 394m per game. So just became a more damaging prospect in general.

Macrae isn’t amazing up forward when compared to McLean Bont etc so a role change isn’t imminent. He will be in and under all day long.

It's hard to start him at that price when I expect him to drop a little. But even if he does drop to say 115, it won't be thaaat much of a drop in price (unless he has a few stinkers in a row) and will still cost a heap to bring in.

You raise a good point

Anyone who thinks Macrae will go 115+ should probably start him because like Rico mentioned he'll still be 600k+ and hard to bring in

With Titch going down i cant see any reason not to be starting this bloke now. Has one of the highest ceilings going round, super consistent, not many dogs around him taking his points either, as well as they cant really be much worse than they were last year

3 question marks I have are
Will he get tagged too often?
Will he play a lot on the inside like last year, will Libba affect him?
Is he more of an upgrade target given price and the above concerns?

Probably but even if he drops off a bit and is averaging 115-120 good luck finding the cash to get him in unless he has a few shockers.

Him, Cripps, Fyfe and Dusty are the only mids I can see capable of averaging 120+ this year and Fyfe has never played a full season in his career and Dusty is hugely dependant on his role. Macrae is the safest lock to be a top 5 mid (at worst)

I dunno lads

He hasn't backed it up yet

Could easily go back to 105-110 this year

That would be a disaster

Honestly wouldn't surprise me one bit

I can easily mount a case as to why he'll be back to playing more on the outside and averaging 105-110 but I won't be surprised if he actually does back it up with at least 115+

Pretty big decision to try and get right. So far I'm still not starting him, only because I think there are plenty of good enough mids to start and my rucks along with the mids I pick and Danger will leave me with plenty of captain options

GoLions

Could be a chance for my starting side. Will probably put a few names in a hat (Crippa, Clarrie, Kelly, Macrae) and take 2-3.

Do we think the doggies fwd line up could effect Macraes scoring potential. I didn’t see a lot of doggies games in 2018 but didn’t the bont spend a lot of time up forward due to the doggies having a less than desirable forward line? Now with Dahlhaus gone to the cattery there is another forward spot to fill that could be a rotation of midfielders such as Dunkley, Wallis, Libby types.....? Like I said, not very familiar with how the doggies line up but the seem to have a lot of ‘like’ players and if Macrae gets to keep his midfield minutes I will definitely be keeping a keen eye on him.

Nige

Chucked Macrae in to my team earlier today.

Originally, my question was whether I wanted to pay so much for him but I've decided that I do because I think his output will be similar. It's gonna be impossbible for him to actually back up his 2018 but he'll go close enough that starting him is definitely worth it.

I don't think the rest of the Dogs midfield is gonna have any impact on him and his scoring.

jvalles69

Yeah I've locked him in too, can't really see him dropping off.  Looks nicer/safer with him in the top mid spot ahead of Cripps.

It's true they have a lot of mids that can play fwd, and how that is distributed remains to be seen.
Sam Lloyd has come in to Dahl's spot. I think Bont will still spend good chunks fwd until their key fwds stand up.
McLean, Dunkley and Wallis more likely to play fwd than Hunter, Libba and Macrae.
The thing affecting Macrae scores most will be Libba, and whether Macrae plays more outside than in 2018. His mid minutes will be similar imo, just a question on balance of inside and outside.
Macrae is their best mid after Bont, he is an absolute gun and hard to leave out. But will teams tag Macrae over Bont?

HappyDEZ

At this stage I am Grundy/Gawn & no Macrae but I do see Grundy/Goldy/Macrae as an option. Ideally I can upgrade to Macrae after his bye. I might have totally redo my side anyway. Of my 14 'so called' keepers 8 of em share the same bye. 3/8/3. Damn it.
