I've toyed with the Fort R2, Hoff fwd combo. But to me it seems like I'm just picking Hoff over either Goldy/Martin or Gray/Dunkley/Kelly etc. Is he worth the 550k over those guys?

This sums it up

You need Hoff if doing Fort at R2, and what happens if Fort is dropped after a couple of games? You've then got Hoff permanently at R2 and Fort rotting away at F8 leaving for your forward line exposed

If you want to get risky here and play Fort at R2, then instead of having Hoff in the forwards as cover, grab a cheap hack ruck with good JS like Longer for R3 - yeah it's more money sitting on the pine but added up it's still way less than Gawn/Hoff etc and gives you cover, albeit not great scoring cover

Better yet, just set and forget :)

Fort at F8????? How ???? If he was fwdruck and started round 1 he be a certainty with hoff forwArd.

Meant to say R3, not F8. Your original R3 donut would be rotting at F8 while Hoff sits at R2

you do know Mummy misses the first 2 games yeah?

Literally two posts above

We've spoken about the risk of starting Fort R2 and he if gets dropped, but what about the Mummy/Fort combo? If Fort plays Round 1, you assume he makes it to Round 2, and then Mummy is in Round 3. Allows you to see who will be the best ruck to upgrade Mummy to later on, and use the cash elsewhere in the time being

I know Mummy had a niggle recently, but assuming he is fit and fine, Mummy/Fort anyone?

Now this would take some serious pills to pull off. What do you do when Mummy gets injured at training and Fort gets dropped for being a spud. Your left no cash and a big hole to fill.

Is it really that much a risk if Fort lines up Round 1? Expecting two games from him and then a fit Mummy to come in doesn't seem too crazy.

As for Mummy getting injured at training and Fort getting dropped lol, that's a very specific scenario and probably the absolute worst case. shower happens, that's why we have 30 trades

Welcome to the big time Darcy Fort, Round 1 against some bloke called Grundy and if you're any good we'll play you round 2 against some bloke called Max.

That's brutal. Reason enough not to have him at R2. Could be dropped very quickly

Nobody knows if he'll even play Round 1, but I'd bet anything if he does he'll also play Round 2

Geelong don't have a forward that can play second ruck (Abbott not exactly great) so there's every chance they play 2 of Stanley, Abbott and Fort and by all reports Stanley and Fort are the frontrunners

Grundy Gawn is brutal, thrown straight into the deep end for sure

Just 2 seasons back Geelong used Blicavs as the second ruckman.

What about Belly? Could be wrong, (usually am, Lol) but isn't he set to miss the start with injury (his back, I think) and would this not bring Zac Clark into play. We need the bomber faithful to give some insight. I'll tootle off and do some more research into belly.

I am looking at either Clark or Fort at R3 and Mumford at R2 to come back Rd 3. Realise Mumford missed all last season but prior to that only missed 3 games in the previous seasons. he only has to average 90 which he should do easily to get a nice price rise and allow to trade up if required.

Belly was set to resume training this week so I think he should be fine for Round 1

I reckon they'll go with McKernan as 2nd option as he can play forward better than Clarke can

This is why I am seriously at least looking at the possibility of Mummy R2 Fort R3

As I said earlier, I go from Gawn + Mid Rookie to Mummy + Mid Prem, so the points I lose from Gawn to Mummy I gain ever more fielding a mid prem over a mid rookie, plus it gives me the chance to see who the clear R2 will be between Gawn, Goldy etc

yep just found it. He had shoulder surgery and is set to resume training this week. (phew, I'm not going loopy)

Only need him to play 6-7 games, then he's an easy upgrade to the clear Number 2 ruck

Esava??? He injured ? Can easily play second ruck.

Yeah, Ratugolea can certainly play 2nd ruck but he's still being eased back in and will predominantly be a forward. They'll take their time with him too coming back from injury

It's pretty simple really - if Fort is named Round 1 then it opens up the option of playing him R2. If he's not named then keep it simple, set and forget

If Pruess plays, anyone get any interest in Longer at R2? very little competition there and you can get the lie of the land to see who the clear R2 next to Grundy is.

Fort will score better than Longer

Longer is the worst SC ruck in the game. If you want a cheap R2 to see who eventuates as the guy to upgrade to, then maybe someone like English could be a goer, especially with Boyd looking unlikely to be fit by Round 1

I know Mummy had a niggle recently, but assuming he is fit and fine, Mummy/Fort anyone?

Who is St Kildas ruck this year? Longer & King then nothing?

Lewis Pierce will be given a crack at some stage too I think.

They will, but as a forward

He'll pinch hit in the ruck, but he's a forward
