Id probably take him pick 2 in my draft too even though im starting Goldy.

If Gawn can pump out 115 as a ruck then he is worthy of pick 2 in the draft. Doesnt mean he is worth paying 700k+ for

true there is obviously upside but the downside is far too great and if your wasting a fwd spot picking up hoff then your taking away the upside.

As Goldy is priced similar to Hoff But should smash him, id back Goldy + 60 over Hoff + 80. Also 80 is no gurantee.

Fort will score better than Longer

Longer is the worst SC ruck in the game. If you want a cheap R2 to see who eventuates as the guy to upgrade to, then maybe someone like English could be a goer, especially with Boyd looking unlikely to be fit by Round 1

We've spoken about the risk of starting Fort R2 and he if gets dropped, but what about the Mummy/Fort combo? If Fort plays Round 1, you assume he makes it to Round 2, and then Mummy is in Round 3. Allows you to see who will be the best ruck to upgrade Mummy to later on, and use the cash elsewhere in the time being

I know Mummy had a niggle recently, but assuming he is fit and fine, Mummy/Fort anyone?

With Grundy and Gawn I currently have 13 keepers + Miles

I just changed Gawn to Mummy, which allowed me to upgrade a mid rookie to Crouch/Zerrett

This still leaves me with 13 keepers, but now Miles + Mummy

Same amount of keepers as if keeping Gawn, but getting the extra mid pricer in Mummy

Very tempting

We've spoken about the risk of starting Fort R2 and he if gets dropped, but what about the Mummy/Fort combo? If Fort plays Round 1, you assume he makes it to Round 2, and then Mummy is in Round 3. Allows you to see who will be the best ruck to upgrade Mummy to later on, and use the cash elsewhere in the time being

Just a quick question here too

What are we all gonna do if Fort is named solo ruck Round 1?? I have a contingency plan in place at this stage as I think him solo ruck with the mids at his feet could see him go 80+ which is nearly too hard to pass up in terms of playing on field.

Two set ups are

Grundy, Goldy (Fort)
Danger Heeney Gray Greene Rooks

OR

Grundy, Fort (Bines)
Danger Hoff Heeney Gray Greene Rook

What do we think?

Have the second set up but with a cheaper R/F than Hoff as cover

I've toyed with the Fort R2, Hoff fwd combo. But to me it seems like I'm just picking Hoff over either Goldy/Martin or Gray/Dunkley/Kelly etc. Is he worth the 550k over those guys?

This sums it up

You need Hoff if doing Fort at R2, and what happens if Fort is dropped after a couple of games? You've then got Hoff permanently at R2 and Fort rotting away at F8 leaving for your forward line exposed

If you want to get risky here and play Fort at R2, then instead of having Hoff in the forwards as cover, grab a cheap hack ruck with good JS like Longer for R3 - yeah it's more money sitting on the pine but added up it's still way less than Gawn/Hoff etc and gives you cover, albeit not great scoring cover

Better yet, just set and forget :)

Fort at F8????? How ???? If he was fwdruck and started round 1 he be a certainty with hoff forwArd.

Yeah a big no for me he is already had a problem , he misses the first 2 rounds , he has missed an entire year , and he is an old flower pass
