In and out of my team a bit

A big fan of DPP...looks like he is playing a bit of wing this year

Is very fit and a hard match up, tough as nails...as pointed out by others I just don't like the fact his best year came when Port had no ruck

A big gamble

Ive been constantly changing my mind on Westhoff this preseason, but ATM he is out.

The difference between his scores last year vs previously could be down to his ruck work, but I'm not convinced by that as some of his biggest games he had limited ruck numbers.

This is a spread by year of his scores. Last year he doesn't have the low outliers that he has had in 2016 & 2017. It can be clearly seen that his core scoring is around the 85-90 mark, with last year overall higher due to a few high outliers (140+, first time in 4 years) and the absence of the low scores.

His increase in average wasn't because he rucked more

It was because as ruck he was around the ball much more, and that in turn lead to more touches/tackles?HO etc that previous years

Now that he won't be rucking, he won't be near the ball as much, and will back to his wing/forward/everywhere role so you should expect his average to drop back to what it always was too - 90ish give or take

And I will happily wait for the price drop then pick him up as F6 for cover during the dreaded Grundy/Gawn bye

As RD said the lack of time around the ball will see games where he has the low ball scores that drag is price down.    Highly unlikely to not be available at a lower price down the track.   If you check out LS graph last year he avoided the lowball scores.  I doubt he will be so lucky this year with the additional fire power in the team.

Price drop won't happen when he finally averages the 140 I've been calling since 2014 :P

Nah but really, there's talk that he might spend more time fwd this year, I hope that's not the case because his best scoring is in the free roam role on a wing. I would say it's safer to avoid and upgrade to him, but I think we should still expect premium numbers.

at some stage, yes - the lucky coach just needs perfect timing

He'll bottom out the same time we get 4 LTIs and a whole bunch of rookies have been dropped and we can't fix everything...

Dont like trading out prems but the last 2 weeks have been terrible with scores of 47 and 39 i havnt watch him played so not sure what position his playing but those scores are unacceptable

Mat0369

And I brought him in round 2 thinking he would be a serviceable R2 until the byes. This has been a mess

I have to say I have benefited from advice Mat0369 has given so I probably should hold back on the bad attempt at humour

Hoff had an out of standard season last year.    2019 will revert to high 80's most likely.     550k is a waste up front for a 80"s keeper.

Set and forget on Grundy and Gawn is probably going to be the highest scoring option this year.

If funds are tight then I am hopeful of finding a starting R2 that I can ride for a mid season upgrade to Gawn as r2.    Fort at Geelong still looks best option to me as Geelong have not been able to tie down a permanent ruck for years.

Kruezer also provides a reasonable risk/return option.      Not going to know until close to start of the season.

Goldstein and Martin will be like Goldy last year,  not bad enough to do anything about but not providing the best option and dropping points to opposition every week and making life hard.
should go back and read my old stuff.   Goldy smells of groundhog day for me..
