A couple of injuries have resulted in a few changes:

Have named Birchall but if not named Rd 1 will downgrade.
With Wines injury have named Rockliff as M4 with Miles at m5. Think in second year at Power Rocky may be set to regain his mojo and reach his high scores of 2017. Training strongly from all reports as well.  Bennell will come into m6 if named Rd 1. Still undecided between Fyfe and Neale. Fyfe in at the moment but Neale could easily come in instead,
With naming Rockliff over Zorko have been able to bring Dunkley into F4.
Mids may be a little weak but think strength in other lines compensates.

Hey mate, nice looking team, I like a few of your PODs, Rockliff being one of them.
Despite that, I have a few extra question marks:

- Simpson; do you trust him to maintain his incredibly high standard from last year? Most of his career has been around 95 - very impressive for a defender. This year however he's priced at 105+ and will be 35?
- Dusty adds to a lengthening list of gambles. I currently have him in my squad but acknowledge that he's a risk that might not pay off. He's only once in his career gone above 108 for the season, that was in 2017 where we know he broke just about every record and won the Brownlow and still *only* went at 119 and was a statistical anomaly in a 200-game career. Is he capable of another 110+ season?
- Neale - I know you're a Brisbane man, but is it wise to pay through the nose for a bloke who hasn't played a game for a new team? Surely he takes a while to settle in?
- Roberton, Birchall AND Miles?

:D

All the best mate!

Hi Ringo, you forgot to include left over salary cap. Not keen on Simmo but at his price you have plenty of options if you change your mind.Surprised to see L Neale not a POD, currently in 16.2 % of teams. Have you heard anything on Corey Ellis ?? Interested to know what section of the team he is training with ? Could go well with GC and only 30k more than Birchall. Nice team mate . Have a good season Ringo.

Sorry only 29k left. Will see what I can find on Ellis from my contacts. Yep Simmo may be downgraded after JLT.  He is so consistent and you know what you get.  Sitting team but more than likely will be adjusted after JLT.

Nice side Ringo...

Obviously you are aware of the rookie Bytel being injured, as you posted his injury...

Yep will be looking for a rookie with F/M DPP to establish link. Realised when I did this final sitting side I did not have the link.

Personally I think Rocky is cooked and won't return to fantasy relevance but would be a massive payoff if he can return to a 100 average and maybe be a M9.

Have the same obvious concerns about Birchall. Hasn't done any of the pre-season so would not really consider starting him unless he gets some games in JLT.

Even with the injury to Wines and Wingard leaving I'm not convinced that Robbie Gray's body can hold up enough to play massive amounts in the midfield without spending massive chunks of games up forward. Would be better IMO as an upgrade target to see how he goes once he has a few games under the belt.

Hey Ringo, interested in your thoughts on one or two things, as I have an almost identically structured team to yours.

Like you, I'm running with two premium defenders, but where you have Witherden + Roberton, I have Williams + Smith.
Same four premium forwards, into Setterfield + Rookie.
Where you have Cripps + Neale + Martin, I have Cripps + Oliver + Fyfe.
Also Miles at M5, into Rookies M6 - M8.

The main difference being that my POD is Taranto at M4, whereas you have Rocky. To afford this, I'm got Witts at R2 next to Grundy.

I'm very happy with this structure, and have a number of places to grab cash if I want to turn Witts into Goldstein.

My concern is that I only have 13 keepers. Are you also bothered by this with your team?

I'm comfortable with the 7 on-field Rookies, but would ideally like 14 keepers.

I could achieve this by downgrading Dunkley to Billings, for example, and upgrading Smith to Mills.

But I don't want to add a couple more speculative mid-pricers just to tick the box of having 14 keepers. In your opinion, is 13 sufficient as a starting point?

Ringo

Look at this way in an ideal world you want 18 keepers playing.

If you have 13 that is 5 required - usually with a down and up to get these so that is 10 trades required to get to the 18. maybe allow another 2 if you have to double down to gain a super premium.
So yep all being well that is ok.
However as we know nothing is normal in SC so you have to go with gut.
I usually try to start with 13 keepers and allow the trades as follows:
12 required for upgrades
Up to 3 correctional trades Rd 3
5 injury trades
Leaving 10 trades to use through finals.
However last year used 11 injury trades which wrecked plans.

Obviously team will change prior to Rd 1 but going with this structure.

GoLions

I tend to aim for 22 keepers usually but that's just me

Ringo

Forgot that part of the plan and usually aim for 21 at conclusion though with a prem/mid pricer on bench for 3 lines except Rucks.

GoLions

Hang on one sec...

6 + 8 + 2 + 6 = 22 18

Ah yep so 18 and premo cover on each line except rucks

Ringo

Posting 2 sitting teams here to keep record to fall back on:

Team 1 Preferred team with Miles, Roberton and Green only mid pricers and sound prem bye structure based on 12 keepers bur Miles and or Green could become keepers.
Rd 12 3 Prems missing
Rd 13 7 Prems missing so this round needs watching in trading.
Rd 14 2 Prems missing.

Def and Fwds prem set with rookie place holders
Mids 2 and 3 really my issue to decide with Kelly, Neale and Yeo also under consideration.

Team 2 Speculative with Mumford at R2 and hoping Fort or Zac Clarke plays Rd 1 and 2. Mumford if he can average 90 will be ripe to upgrade to the best ruck after Grundy.  Birchall will become Rozee

Nige

Think you're better off with the second team there Ringo, but I'd be getting rid of Birchall if I was you.

ubeaut

So it's Stef/Roberton/Greene vs
           Mumford/Williams/J.Martin?
Team 1 easy for me, as the money saved with Mumford doesn't net you much more points if any, especially as you're playing Fort first two rounds up against Grundy+Gawn.
