This one not really relevant for SC but really sorry for the lad if it curtails his career/

"After copping a head knock at training, young Swan Tom McCartin's career could be in doubt, according to Channel Seven's Tom Browne.

The 19-year-old reportedly received a "very serious" knock to the head at training and is suffering from concussion."

I read about that this morning

Sounds ridiculous, but can concussion be hereditary? Uncanny coincidence that both McCartin's are heavily effected by it

This needs to be poster sized and put as RD's tag from now on.

And why's that?

I prefaced the question by saying it sounds ridiculous to even ask, and as it turns out genetics do play a part in it, so please explain why what I asked is so amusing to you?

That's sad to see. Hopefully a little time away from it all will help him

anything regarding mental health is very sad, you never know the mental state of anyone (even if you feel they have everything in the world)

Does that mean gresham is now looking the goods??

Pretty significant news out of the @westernbulldogs with Jason Johannisen ruled out of round one and possibly a few weeks more. Tom Boyd could miss another three months with a debilitating back injury as well.

Hamish Hartlett and Matthew Broadbent running along the boundary line. Both away from main group this morning, but expected to play Saturday

these 2 sound good to go i know not really sc relevant but one less spot a rookie might get etc

Broadbent actually could average low 80s, which for his price isn't terrible!

"To be honest, I don't know I'd have the match fitness to get through a full game of AFL footy," Hartlett said.

"No matter how much pre-season you do and how many pre-season games you play, you always find, for me personally, I'm always cramping halfway through the third quarter in round one and two of the AFL season.

"So, to come back off playing no matches straight into an AFL team, I don't know if that would sit really comfortably with me.

"I'd like to get a couple of full games probably at Magpies (SANFL) level just to gain that match fitness then go into an AFL game from there.

"We'll wait and see how things roll out, but I'd say within the first few rounds of the season."

Apparently SEN are reporting that Taylor Adams is set to miss up to 10 weeks with a finger problem.

Was thinking Treloar/Pendles could benefit from this but 10 weeks seems excessive, and even if it is, he'd be back around RD4
