Haven't had Brodie Smith, but am starting to see the appeal

Smith + 250k vs Laird is a pretty huge difference in value, and Milera + Smith both down there, with the new kick in rules etc - I can certainly see Laird dropping back to 95-100

250k is huge, and that's what got me considering Brodie now

Plus, I have him in WXV so always a soft spot there  :-*

I don't think I could start Williams at D1 like you though :P

Laird has Milera/Smith/Kick in rule all going against him
Sicily as swingman is too risky
Simmo has Newman, although that doesn't phase me too much
Whitfield/Hurn should more or less go similar to last year

I just don't see much changes at Sydney negatively impacting Lloyd. I know he costs heaps, and will almost certainly drop in value, but I think he will still junk up stats and pump out his fair share of 110+ scores, so I'm thinking I keep him at D1 still, but can avoid the rest for now

Lloyd, Williams, Smith, Roberton is what I am now looking at, and I have contingencies in place to upgrade Roberton if need be

A lot of this forced too, because the mid rookies are trash so I need to go deeper there now, which means I need to go lighter elsewhere so guys like Smith allow that

Money Shot

Williams, Smith, Roberton, Scrimshaw, Clark, Duursma (Burgess, Hore)

Is something I am very strongly considering doing.

B. Crouch at M6
Grundy/Gawn
Greene at F4

Currently have:
Whitfield, Williams, Smith, Roberton, Clark, Duursma (Burgess, Hore)

With Greene at F3 though.

That's my DEF line. Don't like starting Laird or Sicily for the reasons you've said above. Lloyd hasn't left my side. Simmo can be a bit of a roller coaster. Hurn/Whitfield are the only other premo's I'd really look at

Just watching Sydney they do love the ball in Lloyd's hands for sure. Just worry that a lot of his touches are just meaningless stuff, like short 10m passes that score you nothing.

i just worry he reverts back to a lower average, I mean he jumped from 87 to 112, only an increase in 9DT for that to happen too. Historically always been a better DT than SC player due to his sea-gulling antics.

Nothing stopping him from going 100 DT average for a 95-100SC average. I am still a firm believer a lot of his post bye scoring was BS but that's just me. Not paying 610k for a guy who I see getting at a heavy discount later on

Well tbf it was like a 92avg the year before, cause he had a game where he got injured on 4 haha. I'm still tossing up which way to go for my D1 though.

Need to start at least 1 of the high price guys IMO. Probably 2 of them tbh

It's going to be hard to bring in several defenders at 500k during the season

Not if you think Williams and Newman are top 10 defenders and Smith and Roberton can push 90+ ;)

That's the big risk although I can see scoring being reigned in a little this year, think all the 570k guys drop in price.

No doubt they will drop, but what I am saying is it's still very difficult to get them

Say Laird drops to 520k, and your def rookies have hit 250-300k - there's a good chance you're going to need 3 trades in total - a double downgrade + upgrade, just to get a 500k+ def in your side

Just something to think about

All the Newman lovers still keen? 13% ownership - will be interested to see if that's still the case come Round 1

Half way into the 3rd - 8 touches, 3 clangers, 2 FA's and I'm guessing about 17SC  :P

EDIT: Freako said he was 28SC at 1/2 time :)

Has been discussed a lot in this thread, and with the somewhat question marks around Roberton, Moore is a legit option. Two good JLT performances too
