Good to see very few are picking Taranto, the best option of all.

Im actually very bullish on Taranto, see him averaging around 100, which would see him around the top 15 or an easy upgrade later in the year while still putting up good early points.
The only issue is i can't work out how to fit him in my team with Miles and Libba floating around.

Similar to BCrouch, Steele etc., at his price he needs to be a keeper. Unless he manages to break into the top 8 mids in the comp (I've got him 3rd at the Giants alone), he'll probably end up being a weak link in the mids, or potentially end up as great bench cover.

Does anyone remember or know who have actually been the successful mid price picks from the past few years?

Conigs was a win last year at 450k

Who else?

History would suggest most mid price options all end up as busts, so I'm curious as to who the actual successful ones have been

For the purpose of this a successful mid price is someone who turned into a keeper, not stepping stones

So, who else besides Conigs has been a win in recent years?

I fear there hasn't been much at all, which is why I really want to stick to GnR for the most part, but every year these flowers tempt me!  ;D

One word. Three syllables.

Great thing is we will find out who was the better pick.

For the record i think brad is a better pick then libba. I might be wrong though lets see.

Not long to go to find out.

Had to stir the pot with these jokers :p

Come on Holz

Crisp started last year at 455k. For a defender, that is not a mid pricer
Angus Brayshaw averaged 97 last year. That's not a mid premo
Jonas averaged 86 - not a premo
Webster averaged 87 - not a premo
Sinclair was nowhere near a good enough ruck pick
Darling missed a chunk of games

Coniglio, Breust, Hogan and Sicily, and possibly Andrews

Interestingly Coniglio was the only proven one of that lot, and the others pretty much broke out

Money Shot

Brayshaw was a defender last year priced cheaper than Smith is this year. If Smith averages 90+ he is a great pick
Crisp is similar to Witherden where you’re picking him hoping he takes it to the next level.
Webster and Jonas would have been average picks because they are doing well enough that you possibly keep them for too long
If Darling wasn’t injured he would have been one of the best picks last year.
Agree that sinclair was a bad pick.

Fair play on Brayshaw - forgot he was a defender, my bad

The rest I don't rate as pure mid price successes though. You picked Crisp as a prem already, and Jonas/Webster weren't good enough

Anyway, was a good little exercise :)

He was a 300k defender that averaged 97... Thats awesome. Witts of two years ago was massive as well. 220k for 94, as was Nank, 89 for 300k odd as an invaluable R/F swing. Oliver 300k turned into a 111 average to years ago. Dunkley 280k into a 95 avearge. Kelly 400k into 114.

Cogs, Brayshaw, Witts, Nank, Sicily, Oliver, Dunkely and Kelly all in the last two years purely from the top of my head and i'd know there would be more. You definitely cant say there hasnt been much.

Money Shot

Nic Newman will be a top 6 defender come seasons end.

RaisyDaisy

So it would seem that approx 3-5 mid pricers each year really hit it big and step up

If you can nail a couple of them this year, it would be a big advantage
