Excluding rucks, if you could only pick 1 Mid Pricer this year, who would it be?

Brodie Smith, Dylan Roberton, Pearce Hanley
Anthony Miles, Tom Liberatore, Tom Rockliff, Brad Crouch
Toby Greene, Joe Daniher

I think that's all of them - well the ones most are considering in one way or another

If you could only pick one, who do you think will be the best one to pick this year?

They have to be playing Round 1 of course, and with these picks you need to consider all of JS, Durability, Cash Gen potential, Scoring Potential and if they can become a stepping stone or keeper, so there's a lot to factor

Please feel free to let me know if I've missed someone

Robbo, Miles & Greene for me. I just had a look at GC's early draw & it's set up beautifully for Miles to get off to a flier.

JJK, Moore are other options still on my watchlists.

JJK is still only 50/50 to line up Round 1

Had JJK all pre season but he's out now. Don't want to be unsure on a guy in the week leading up to round 1

Thats my top 5 in order

Roberton and Smith in SC, Smith and Miles in AF.

Thanks guys

I asked on Discord too and Roberton is the clear choice from most, and I agree

At his price, history and position he could actually become a keeper at D6 and if not either great D7 cover or a stepping stone

The mids will tempt me for sure, but the likeliness is that they'll only make a bit of cash then need to be traded, but I also will end up delaying their upgrading for way too long as I'll be wanting to get rookies upgraded first

That, and the fact that mid prems cost the most and are the hardest to bring in, is why I think 5 starting prem mids is the way to go, and mid pricers only in def or fwd, but there aren't any good fwd ones so Roberton looks like the one for me too

Colley Dogs

Williams & Roberton for me.

(For my own purposes, mid-pricer is any player 250k - 450k)

Including Williams, this gives me 13 keepers + Roberton + 8 Rookies in play.

Could downgrade my fifth premium mid to Miles, and upgrade my D5 or F4 to a mid-pricer, but prefer my Guns ‘n Rookies set-up for now.

Holz

Roberton looks the best of the bunch

1. dont love the defense rookies and dont love most of the defense premos.
2. 300k so not much more then an expensive rookie
3. there is potential that he can end up as a D6

Crouch I had in the squad but dumped him, i think he can pump out a 105 but at 420k he is an akward price and if it goes wrong then your stuck. The mid is the most valuable spot so you need to be exceptional to take one of these spots away from guys like Fyfe Oliver or mid rookies. Same reason why im not too flash on Miles. Unlikely to be a keeper, akward price and takes away a mid spot.

Greene

If he lines up round 1 he will be in my squad

1. like defense i dont love the fwd premos and at some point a few of them will be cheap (thats just the nature of fwds)
2. at 350k he is a little more akward priced but im sticking him at F3 as unlike defence there are some decent fwd rookie options.
3. He has the capability of being a F6 given his past scoring history.

Smith

Dont get this pick at all, 76 75 82 from his last 3 full seasons is not even close to a D6. This smells of a desperation pick given the lack of good cheap defender rookies. Unlike Roberton and Greene he doesnt have the recent history of showing any ability to being a keeper and at 330k he is akward priced.  30k more then roberton who pumped out 90+ last full season no way. 20k less then greene who has put up 90 and 96 his last two full season, not even close.

To pick a mid price guy i think you need 3 things.

1. capability of at least having a decent shot at being a keeper.
2. need to be on a line that there arent sure fire uber premos your missing out on, or cheap rookies who will make loads of cash.
3. they need to be discounted enough that if they come back to say 85% of their most recent season then they are still an ok pick.

on point 3 Roberton would be a 78 which is decent (and kinda what Smith cores on a good season)
Greene would be 82, this wouldn't be ideal but still alot better then a rookie more then serviceable.
For smith it would be 70, thats horrific at 330k and nowhere near worth it over a premo or rookie.

The only mid midpricers worth starting are Crouch and Hall imo, and tbh only Crouch in SC

Southstorm

Injury to Carlisle probably means Roberton will be playing more man on man than ideal to start the season. Think that's just about put a line through him for me.

Thats a bit of a stretch. The main relevance out of that is Wilkie may be a chance to squeeze in somewhere

Or helps someone like Logan Austin to slot in

Money Shot

Roberton, Miles, Libba and Greene the only ones I’m considering. At the moment I have none.

Moore is in my side but he is priced below 250k so he is more of a top end rookie price than a mid pricer imo.
