Hard to argue with any of that MS

Devon Smith was super consistent, but does Shiel come in impact his mid time/output?

He doesn't pump out much monster scores, so I might wait and see with him as I can't see any huge advantage to starting him, as in it probably won't give me a leg up although he should be consistent

Fyfe I need to think about. He's always one of the first picked, but this trend of missing games really hurts

With Docherty sadly out for the season I will build my team around this...

Laird, Whitfield, Williams
Mitchell, Cripps, Oliver, Fyfe, Kelly
Grundy, Gawn
Dangerfield, Smith, Heeney

Lloyd is too expensive and has only had one season at the top. Laird on the other hand continues to be a top 5 defender year in year out. Williams comes in and Shiel goes out... This means more midfield time for Whitfield who I think could improve him average by 10 points this season (was considering him even as a mid) Williams is just too much value to pass up! Was going to start him last year at 100k more and he played 1 final this year and killed it.

Not messing around with the mids. I have 5 out of the top 6. Macrae is the biggest question mark for me so I’m leaving him as an upgrade target. Mitchell will keep being Mitchell. Cripps and Oliver will only improve. Fyfe, when fit, is probably the best scorer in the game so if he has a full preseason he is in. Kelly I have winning the brownlow this year hence why he is in my side.

Gawn and Grundy are by far the best rucks in the game so why not start them both.

Danger will be the top forward in the game without a doubt and Heeney and Smith are just Uber consistent and will either improve or hold ground. Going to wait and see on Westhoff, pick up Franklin when he inevitably has a stinker and then can pick up someone like Wingard or Dalhous after I see how they are going at a new club.
Good luck fitting 5 full price premo mids, Danger, Laird AND two 700k rucks under the salary cap. You'll have to start close to 9 rookies on ground and have a weak F4+D4.
I hope I'm wrong but how often have we had the top "must have" fwd+back being 650k+and 600k+(Laird and Danger ) and two 700k+ rucks? I remember Goddard being 700k in defence after averaging the highest the previous year but many didn't start him (right decision he lost heaps of cash)
I think one of Lloyd /Laird is a must and agree that Laird gets the nod being cheaper and having multiple premo season history.
Danger is a no brainer.
Titch as u say will be Titch and is picking Sam Mitchell's brain on handling tags among other things. He already dealt with tags fairly well most of the year.
Heeney is a lock for me too.

I don't think we'll be able to fit 5 premo mids and Grundy+Gawn in as well lol.
I'm guessing 2/3 maybe 4 top price mids at most and one of Grundy/Gawn plus a cheaper option will be the go.
Aren't u worried about the Preuss factor???
Why the hell would he go to another club to not play afl and wait LONGER to do so?
I guess we'll see if he lines up round one, or what happens if TMac or Weiderman goes down.

Yeah I like the premiums but getting them this year is more costly than ever. Have a feeling that team requires the last 17 players to all be <130k

Obviously I am waiting for prices to come out but I think there is a Plethora of guys who will play early and score well in the sub 200k range.

If Gawn lines up as solo ruck round one I’ll pick him if he doesn’t I’ll probably go for a much cheaper option and see who the standout ruck is come mid season and upgrade.

I don’t think Shiel will have much of an impact of Smith’s scoring so I’m happy to take that “risk”.
