Still can't decide what trades to do

I'm running really low on trades and still have several rookies on field

I know I'm bringing in Ahern and Hurley next week, but just need to finalise who comes in and out this week and it doesn't help that when teams are announced I'll only have an hour or so to finalise something due to Port players playing tomorrow night
Just on Hurley RD; I watched him play Lions and was playing more of a lock down role. Still scored 90 odd but I feel this will be his ceiling and be more a 80-90 avg. rather than 95-100 if he continues in this role.
I was keen on a Doedee > Hurley trade myself but may look at T.Mac instead despite the price difference.

Yeah, I'm in the same position.

I don't know how serious Devon Smith injury is and I can't afford to have an extra donut next week.

I currently have only 14 players on the field (including Smith) for next week

Dazzalenko

What's peoples thoughts on ROark Smith? need to get Spargo out to be able to field 18 and he seems to be the only rookie on the bubble with the bye done.

Besides his game before getting injured, and game after returning, every other score has been solid, and continuing on from last year

The reality is I just can't spend the extra 80k on TMac, plus I am also setting myself up so that Redman and Ridley are my D7/8, and i feel that having both of them with Hurley at D6 should give me pretty good cover as I'm hoping at least 1 of them will always be playing so there's a bit of hedging/insurance there too

I have finished my defence. Maybe not the greatest with Angus & Heater at D5 & D6 but it will have to do. Anyway if I had a spot it would be Hurley next week @ $460K. Super solid option + great value. Whilst on the subject I was very surprised to see TMac has played 87 of 88 games in the previous 4 seasons. I never would've believed that. Top effort.

460k is a great price, but if he continues playing lock down how will he score well enough?

Who says he will continue to play lock down? And he still scored 93.

Don't over think it too much. I'm grabbing him next week because 460k is excellent value and that's the name of the game especially at this point of the season

ZGL to Buddy

Next week Doedee to Hurley, which will leave me with 8 trades and a finished team except for having Rockliff at M8 + Fritsch at F6. Think I may be forced to keep one of them there for the season..

Why would he play lock down for one game vs Lions then change back vs better teams/fwds?
I'm all for value but sometimes it's not worth it. I got Crouch cos he was cheap and look how that turned out.

Looking at doing:

Barry > Giro
ZGL > Ballard
Guelfi > Gray

Guelfi and ZGL have a bit more to make, but need to try and get 18 on the park this week which still isn't looking likely.

Come on mate, Crouch just had 1 bad game last week - bit early to make a call on that one

Seems like you're basing a lot of your decisions off one game of footy

Go with your gut, but I don't think anyone is going to convince you that Hurley is not a good pick

GCSkiwi

Pending team announcements tonight, I think I have a two-week plan:

This week: Fritsch, Henry & Brayshaw out for Giro, Ahern and Gray

Gives me the cash for next week Guelfi, Hibberd and McInerney out for TMac, Grundy and Mihocek.

This really relies on players named, In theory I would have 20 on the park this week but that includes Conigs and Mirra, if they're both not in I have to rethink trading two non-bye players (Brayshaw and Henry) out this week. But if I can execute all these trades, that finishes my team with 6 trades spare, but money will be very tight. No Macrae and relatively weak bench cover, I'll have M/F flexibility but probably look to open up D/F too...

Will probably look at Hurley instead of TMac as it may mean I can bring in Macrae when he drops a little

I'll bank the 93 floor if that's his new role :P nah in all seriousness it's back to his role of his AA year where he's most effective anyway. Not saying he'll be AA, but he's scored well in this role before. He'll still look to get involved offensively with his kicking. He's not the intercept-marking player like McGovern so playing loose was a dumb role for him defensively.

Nah, Crouch has been very underwhelming since I got him, made that call weeks and weeks ago. Been scoring 90-100 with only one decent score of 107. Has actually lost 30k down to 500 from 530, so that suggests average scoring at best. I've since realised he's the type of player that can get 35+ disposals and barely crack 100, much like Boyd used to do. Much more a DT option. Not good enough for a premo mid, especially as I choose him over Macrae.
As for Hurley it's only logical that his scores will suffer if he's not getting all those cheap possessions playing kick to kick with Goddard.
Yes he still scored 90+ but can he do that vs better teams/fwds?
I really wanted him in my team at 460k but the role change is worrying.

Not sure how I'm going to get by next week, trying to manage my trades this week to help with next week.  Might have to bring Liam Ryan back in if he's named, BE of -85.  Ballard maybe also to cover byes.   Laird out gives me 17 players this week and I'm going to have to be happy with that I think.
