Are Resting players affected by the Rep round?

No. If you rest a player in WXV Round 12, you'll receive their bonus in WXV round 13 (AFL round 15)

@Purple77, a question regarding non-loopholing. I intend to name Macrae at M4, Naitanui at U1 and Redden at U2 next week, however if E1 Hopper scores 120+ this weekend and any of those aforementioned players are unavailable for selection next week, would I be forced to name an inferior player to avoid getting his score as it would be seen as loopholing (when in reality he would have been the next player selected anyway)?

Conversely, if Hopper scores 37 this weekend and one of Macrae/Naitanui/Redden are unavailable for selection, but Dion Prestia becomes available for selection next week (a player that I would have selected ahead of Hopper if fit), would I be prevented from naming him as it would be seen as avoiding Hopper's score?

This is why I was absolutely baffled to see loopholing scrapped. Seems like far too much grey area to me!

Jukes

One of our three good players out, RIP Conigs

I'll let Torp name the team tomorrow as he's in good form

Hmm, that's an interesting thought.

After much pondering, the reason of the rule comes to mind, which essentially is (consistent with normal weeks), to ensure you name your best 18 players at the time of the opening bounce of the first game (minus known and certain unavailabilities). You decide on a sequential order of players: 1-15, then 16, then 17, then 18.

The practice being banned is artificially changing that 'natural' sequence to gain the benefit of known scores from your 16th+ and 19th+ (often known future scores of 0) players.

With that in mind, I feel like that given prestia is not a known and certain unavailablity (and you want his score if he is available), you should name him on your bench before Hopper (or a blank spot in the way you've named your team).

Should it turn out that he doesn't play, then you can't name a player with a known future score of zero in E1 (unless you have no choice). You'll have to name your next best unlocked player.

It's not nice, this situation, but that's the risk you have to weigh up now  :(

Some food for thought once we do our rule review in September.
