Please pledge funds to help fight cancer! Examples of ways you can help:
1.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug nails the top captain of the round.
2.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug's POD cracks the 120 mark.
3.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug gets egg on his face and his number 1 scores under 100.
4.   Make a once off donation.

Pledges:
LaHug - $10 every time my number 1 doesn't crack the ton.
LaHug - $50 if my POD ever cracks 150.

Each week I will tell you some statistics on a player's last 3 games, their last 3 against this week's opponent, and their last 3 at this ground. I will also do a quick overview on my thoughts and have a guess at their score for this week. From all this, I'll give you my top 5 captain choices for the week.

LaHug

The facts & thoughts:

Lance Franklin
Last 3: 51, 112, 55 (73 avg)
Last 3 against Carlton: 171, 69, 98 (113 avg)
Last 3 at SCG: 112, 55, 102 (90 avg)

I know he disappointed last week but gee it's hard to see Buddy not kicking a bag against the Blues. Prediction - 125

Patrick Cripps
Last 3: 92, 140, 93 (108 avg)
Last 3 against Sydney: 117, 140, 86 (114 avg)
Last 3 at SCG: 140, 83 (112 avg)

92 with a niggle isn't too bad and he's gone well against the Swans in the past. The problem with Cripps is that he falls short of 100 a lot. The ceiling is tempting though. Prediction - 110

Jack Macrae
Last 3: 113, 144, 155 (137 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 84, 106, 90 (93 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 113, 155, 145 (138 avg)

113 is disappointing for Macrae and that's why you have to lock him in again this week. That's an incredible floor. Prediction - 135

Tom Mitchell
Last 3: 135, 149, 58 (114 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 118, 139, 105 (121 avg)
Last 3 at Launceston: 147, 118, 143 (136 avg)

Mitchell loves playing the Power and is back in Tassie where the Hawks dominate. Looking like three good scores in a row. Prediction - 135

Patrick Dangerfield
Last 3: 117, 105, 106 (109 avg)
Last 3 against Gold Coast: 119, 129, 138 (129 avg)
Last 3 at Metricon: 119, 88, 116 (108 avg)

Danger is scoring well without getting the big scores of the past. Even though history says he'll smash the Suns, it's probably good and not great again. Prediction - 110

Zach Merrett
Last 3: 98, 108, 81 (96 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 101, 152, 115 (123 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 108, 81, 64 (84 avg)

I'm not trusting Merrett this year with his up and down form but I want to this week. It's Dreamtime and someone usually goes big. Merrett's done it against the Tigers before. Prediction - 110

Dustin Martin
Last 3: 82, 73, 48 (68 avg)
Last 3 against Essendon: 133, 161, 123 (139 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 82, 93, 101 (92 avg)

Dusty LOVES to play the Bombers but he's also in the worst form I've seen since his rookie year. How gutsy are you? I'm still tempted. Prediction - 100

Andrew Gaff
Last 3: 154, 107, 86 (116 avg)
Last 3 against St Kilda: 92, 115, 125 (111 avg)
Last 3 at Perth: 107, 110, 120 (112 avg)

Gaff is really embracing this new inside role and his form is showing it. At Perth where he hasn't scored below the 100 mark, he's a safe pick. Prediction - 120

Dayne Zorko
Last 3: 110, 134, 115 (120 avg)
Last 3 against North: 116, 110, 82 (103 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 115, 57, 48 (73 avg)

Numbers look good, yeah? Ben Jacobs will shut down Zorko this week so his history is meaningless. Stay away. Prediction - 75

Brodie Grundy
Last 3: 124, 135, 128 (129 avg)
Last 3 against Fremantle: 103, 105, 88 (99 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 128, 115, 110 (118 avg)

Grundy continues to kill it but Sandilands is not an easy opponent. Grundy's so good around the ground that even losing a few of his hitout points shouldn't hurt. Prediction - 125

Adam Treloar
Last 3: 130, 96, 113 (113 avg)
Last 3 against Fremantle: 117, 127, 127 (124 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 113, 147, 122 (127 avg)

Treloar is doing very well after a slow start to the year and should smash Freo, a team he loves to play. Prediction - 130

Nat Fyfe
Last 3: 128, 97, 106 (110 avg)
Last 3 against Collingwood: 99, 110, 64 (91 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 128, 75, 95 (99 avg)

Fyfe managed to score 128 despite attention from Jacobs. That shows he's definitely back this year. Numbers against the Pies don't exactly jump out though. Prediction - 115

Stephe Coniglio
Last 3: 123, 92, 111 (109 avg)
Last 3 against Adelaide: 134, 93, 58 (95 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 134, 106, 93 (111 avg)

Did well last time he played the Crows and looks like he's returning to form. Cogs will likely do well again this week. Prediction - 110

LAHUG'S POD!

Gary Ablett
Last 3: 107, 47, 105 (86 avg)
Last 3 against Gold Coast: N/A
Last 3 at Metricon: 152, 127, 91 (123 avg)

Ablett against his old side. Now that's a POD you just have to take if you need a Hail Mary. Prediction - 130

The verdict:
1.   Jack Macrae (135)
2.   Tom Mitchell (135)
3.   Adam Treloar (130)
4.   Brodie Grundy (125)
5.   Lance Franklin (125)

Surely Rocky should've been your POD in Tassie!?!  :o

Sandilands is out - clear path for Brodie. Wish I had him. 140+ on the cards.

Probably should've been but I'm worried about Port changing their structure around again. I think it's one more week of wait and see before I start considering Rocky. You're right though - it's a great POD!

Didn't see Sandi in Freo's injury list when I wrote this so thought he might be clear to play. No Sandi and Grundy jumps to 3rd or even higher on the Top 5...

all good, as long as you're ok mate … ;)

that's a tough call chief - LaHug's rival commentator said his line was 120pts as he reckons Titch will smash it …

personally, i'd be weary of Titch coming back off a bye (but could be nice and rested or sluggish out of the blocks) and I generally stick to the saying, "a bird in the hand …" …  ;)

good luck mate!

I think I'm taking it. Mitchell will most probably go better, but 128 is an acceptable Captain score and I feel like it's the right decision to take it.

I would take it
