Sorry I didn't read. Loophole Ahern/Giro. I like the sound of Ahern (provided you don't need him to cover Robbie) 'cos most will have him on field anyway yeah?

If Robbie Gray is out, I think most will be fielding Ahern at F6.  I will be playing Battle at F7 to cover Gray if he is a late out.

For me the Ahern/Giro loophole will be matching the M8 of other teams (Dusty/Walters, DeGoey/Boak, Dusty/Wingard).

On the other side of the equation - I have Brayshaw at D6 compared with Bailey Rice, Sam Taylor & a Donut (Trade)!!

I still can't believe Gray looks like playing, so most will have to have their F7 fixed in position just in case.

I know you typed don't ask (x2) in another thread re: the Giro 30 but I am curious. What happened?

Bad Loophole decision!!

Was out with the family and looked at scores 3/4 time to see Ahern only 40.  Given the game was onesided, thought he might score only 50.  Put Giro on the field hoping for more.  Didn't know Ahern got to 62 till it was too late.  Would have taken that score.

Round 18:

Score of 2509 was almost a disaster!  Titch and GWS boys saved me on Sunday.

Made a bad loophole decision and got Giro 30 instead of taking Ahern 62.

Still carrying Fyfe and now Sicily.  Can use the latter to loop Austin if named with J Smith?

After Round 18:

LAIRD, SIMPSON, LLYOD, YEO, HURLEY, Austin [J Smith (D/M), SICILY]

MITCHELL, CRIPPS, OLIVER, DANGERFIELD, J KELLY, COGNILIO, CROUCH, Angus BRAYSHAW (D/M) [FYFE, Giro, Ahern (F/M)]

GAWN, GOLDSTEIN [Olango]

HEENEY, WESTHOFF, GRAY, MCLEAN, D SMITH, Fritsch [Battle, Spargo (F/M)]

Cash in Bank $89,900

Trades:  5 Rounds to go.  Might be time to move either Sicily/Fyfe.

Sicily - if i loop Austin and it works, he stays for a week.  If not, he can become Hurn or McDonald.  Unfortunately Crisp will have already played by the time Austin finishes his game.

Fyfe - I could move Brayshaw to defence permanently and Fyfe can become anyone.  Dusty, Gaff and Neale are popular in the top 10, but lots of POD's to combat.

Ideally would love to move them both, but trades might be needed for the last couple of rounds.

POD's - Brayshaw, Goldy, Fristch (1/10), Crouch (2/10)
Against - Grundy (9/10), Dusty (5/10), McDonald, Gaff, Neale (4/10)

Rnd 18 Outlook: If Austin returns and replaces Rice in the Saints team, 1st overall could have a problem (already carrying Sicily and Harris Andrews).  Grundy having a shocker could be a huge help too!  Maybe against the Tigers it is possible?  I have a heavy reliance on Demon players, so need a big result against the Crows.

Will wait and see, but at least this weekend i will be home rather than having a family day out!  (it was fun going to the Aquarium though!)

Brayshaw to defence & Fyfe to Macrae I reckon. Fyfe still listed as 3 weeks away.

Edit. Brayshaw to defence & Sicily to Macrae.

Interesting thought Bully.  If i do this I lose my DPP Def/Mid.

In my first two years of Supercoach, I was probably too worried about having cover and DPP coverage.  Sacrificed points on the field as a result.  Now that I am so close to the top, I really should avoid making the same mistake.

With 5 weeks to go, is it the right time to take a risk?

If Austin comes back next week, my only non players would be Fyfe and Olango!!  Ahern will cover M9 until Fyfe returns (if that happens it will be a big bonus!)

I could hold my remaining trades for the final rounds knowing I have cover.  It seems other top teams look just one player away from a donut/forced trade too.

Would you consider any options other than Macrae?  Gaff, Neale, JPK.  Macrae would be a POD compared to the top 5, so could work in my favour or against (if he goes 74 again).

Ringo

Dusty has a pretty good run of opponents for the final 5 rounds so maybe cover those 5 in top 10. Macrae does not have an easy run but can go big.
Neale may suffer when Fyfe back in 3 weeks. If you hold Fyfe he could be your POD.
Like Bullys trades for you just need to decide whether Macrae or Dusty.
Another POD to look at is Pendles who has a good draw and with Treloar still out and Pies looking for top 4 finish could be a go. Do not go a lot on SC predicted scores but Pendles has the best of all those mentioned.

Trindacut

Martin is hitting his strike again, and is playing Collingwood who don't tag. Get him!

Dusty a good pick if you need cash, seems to be hitting form at the right time.

The reason I nominated Macrae is the fact he is a legitimate POD, has bottomed out, has a high ceiling & is averaging 122. The risk I suppose is whether the injury will slow him down but his 131 should allay those fears. Aside from his injury affected 51 he's really only had 1 down week & that was last week. Bont coming back should help as well, less attention one would think.

The benefits of Dusty is you save some coin & basically neutralise any advantage your opponents have. He's also a good player to loop with your midfield, Richmond play early every week from here.

Tough choice but this trade will bring you to full premo, I think it's imperative you have 100% firepower from here (Fritsch good enough for F6). Sicily is useless to you apart from perhaps the odd loophole worthy score.

I am for JacMac ahead of Dusty but take your pick. Sicily has to go to Angus. Cannot see the point of changing Sic to a DEF (so bye bye flexibility). To me that makes sense. Fyfe to Menegola is a little bit more up in the air. If I had 4 I would do it. 3 probs not. 2 def not.

Anyway, as usual, Good Luck!!!

Chrispy75

Hi guys,

Thanks for your thoughts.  Has helped focus my mind on what is required.

The decision has been made, now to see if it was the correct choice!

Chrispy75

Okay, its official.

I already hated Collingwood, but now I hate Brodie Grundy too!!

Can't see how I won't have him in my team next year (if not next week!)
