POD Summary:

For Me:  Brayshaw/Fyfe (0/10), Goldy (1/10), Fristch (1/10), Crouch (2/10), Hurley (3/10).

Pretty happy with my crew of PODS.  Fristch had a bad week, and Crouch will hopefully nail a 130+ game soon.

For Top 10:  Grundy (9/10), Gaff (5/10), McDonald/Neale/Dusty/Walters (4/10)

Grundy the major difference here, so if he can continue going sub 100 I will be very happy!!  Goldy in good form, so not losing much right now.  Gaff has also been in good form, but only 101 this week which Brayshaw had covered.

Rnd 18 Outlook:

Now that I'm ahead, I will let others trade to catch me.  Had back to back good rounds with cover on most lines.  Just managing injuries (Fyfe/Gray/JSmith/Battle) for a couple more weeks.  Important to get the VC/C correct, so happy to get Cripps this week.  Not sure the options for Rnd 18 yet.

great to have the cover to assist, Fyfe back will give a huge boost,
Trust you can sustain No 1 for 6 weeks will not be easy but just keep doing what you are dong and try and keep putting distance back to chasers.

I agree with Ringo that it wont be easy but just like actual sport you can only control your end of the deal & give yourself the best possible chance. You did identify VC/C decisions as something you needed to start getting right so well done on Cripps. Hopefully get it right again this week. Jeez it would be nice if Fyfe came back in a similar manner to JacMac. Anyway, as usual, Good Luck!!!

Good luck.

Thanks for all the support guys.

It won't be easy as I have had my fair share of luck already.  No way of protecting against injuries in the middle of a game, so Gray was sad, but then the previous leader also had JPK affect his score.

Hoping i can hang in until Fyfe returns.  Would be a welcome boost without using a trade in the process.

Looking at loophole options, however my only non-players right now (except Fyfe) are Saints (Austin/Battle) and they play first on Friday night.

Battle might be back this week anyway.

Would be great news if that is the case.  I would be able to loop him and Ahern to cover Robbie Gray.

Looking good mate. U have decent cover going forward, Austin and Battle should come straight back in when fit.
I think the biggest weaknesses are Crouch and Fritsch. And keep a close eye on Fyfe; he's due to miss next 3 and the Dockers may opt to put him on ice when totally out of finals contention .
If Fyfe returns consider Crouch > Macrae if Crouch keeps underperforming. Or Fyfe > Macrae if Fyfe out longer.
Also look at Wingard who's going great playing midfield, or even Greene if he starts killing it, as POD fwds for Fritsch.
Just my opinion of course.
Best of luck.

ubeat - some good advice and had these options in my mind the last couple of weeks.  I'm just being ultra conservative with trades given the run of injuries this season.  Now we have Sicily that needs to be replaced so will resolve that problem first and then reconsider my options.

SilverLion

Sicily complicates things a bit for you. His replacement becomes a critical decision for you, and it will also be interesting to see who the top 10 bring in as well.

SL I totally agree.  As teams stand after round 17, the following list are the premiums that other top 10 teams already have in Defence:

McDonald 4/10 teams
Crisp 2/10
Ryan 2/10
Hurn 1/10

The remainder are rookie type players and non-players.

Do I match the biggest POD threat (McDonald - 2nd and 3rd have him).  Do I choose in form options (Crisp/Hurn) or a discounted/value player (Ryan).

I could wait a week? Brayshaw goes to defence (Joel Smith to midfield).  I would be able to loop Ahern/Giro as M8 for the week (using Fyfe).  I could also loop Battle/Spargo in the forwards if Gray doesn't play.

This option could result in less points for Round 18 (less premiums), but saves a trade and allows me to again monitor the decisions made by other top 10 teams.

Being 254 points ahead of 5th, I am thinking the winner comes most likely (not 100%) from the top 4:  The D6-D8 is as follows (note D1-D5 all the same as me):

2nd (Hotspurs) - McDonald, H Andrews, Rice  (If Rice doesn't play he has a donut or trade - Rice was a late in Rnd 17)
3rd (Snow Sky) - McDonald, Austin, Ridley (Has a guaranteed donut or trade)
4th (Chicken) - Hurley, Taylor, Redman  (Would play Taylor in lieu of Sicily)

Don't get me wrong, Sicily will need to go sometime before the end of the season.  Austin is 1 week away, Battle could return this week.  Fyfe is 3 weeks away.  If I can manage the injuries list now and save trades, they can be used agressively in the last few rounds to get in form players for looping.

SilverLion

Similar boat to myself with the Sicily replacement options. Am leaning towards Hurn or Crisp myself, but go with your gut :)

HappyDEZ

Is not trading an option? Who or do you have anyone that can play M8?
