Boy oh boy wowee. RIVALRY ROUND IS UPON US. You know what that means? There will be no HGA this week. And also, increased banter! But mainly the no HGA thing.

Fixture:

Rams vs Giants: Both of these teams would have been hoping to have improved more than they have after last year, particularly the Giants I think. But after the first 6 weeks, the Rams and Giants are the 3rd and 2nd lowest scoring teams respectively, and desperately need to start getting some wins before the byes. The Rams almost managed to get their 3rd against the Bunnies last week, which, funnily enough, could have had them outside of the 8 on percentage. The Giants however now sit 3 games out, but the possible return of Taylor Adams would be a massive boost for them. I think this one will be won or lost in the midfield, and this just makes Adams' return that much more important. If he plays, I'll back in the Giants, but if he doesn't, then the Rams should get it done in a close match.

Knights vs Badgers: Well, both of these teams would like to regret their starts to 2018, with a combined tally of zero wins between them. But, that will all change for one of the Knights and Badgers this week! Danger has been well down on form for the Knights, and an OOP ruck each week makes things so much tougher. Injuries have hurt the Badgers as well, and could be missing almost half of their best xv this weekend. A lot could come down to what players are available this weekend, but for now I'll go with the Badgers to register their first win for the year.

Hurricanes vs Magic: The Hurricanes have been a bit off from their former dominant selves this year, and now are just hanging inside the top 4. The Magic...have fallen off a cliff in all honesty, and until Sloaney, ZSmith, and Ellis return, it won't get much better for them. This one could get ugly.

Hoods vs Steins: The Hoods have been a huge surprise packet so far this year, and sit 2nd on the ladder as we speak! Who would have seen this coming 6 months ago?! The Steins are pushing for that top 4 spot yet again, but may regret dropping last week's game to the Hurricanes. Both of these teams have extremely good youth coming through, and improving each week. Grundy is rumoured to be in doubt for the Steins though, which would be a huge blow, but the Hoods have a lost a star of their own in Michael Walters. This could be one of the best matches of the round...assuming Grundy plays, I'll go with the Steins though.

Hedgies vs Dragons: The Hedgies are another team who have surprised quite a few this year, their coach included! They sit 3rd on the ladder now, and this is the week to really show that they can match it with the best. The Dragons went BANG last week, recording the highest score of the season so far, but only sit in 6th, and will be wanting to break into the top 4 as soon as possible. Their midfield might be finally hitting some good form now, and all that is really left is for Rocky to return to his former self. They should get the win against the Hedgies here...but it is definitely a danger game for them.

Bunnies vs Hawks: The Bunnies got the job done against the Rams last week, and are a game clear in the 8...but they'll need to do a lot more if they want to be considered a threat for the premiership. However, getting Ryder back potentially this week will be a huge gain for them, and could see them start to push the top teams with their scores each week. The Hawks are a couple games outside the 8 now, but have always had the cattle to scare the higher placed teams, and were a genuine top 4 team only 2 or so years ago. They'll need a full team performance this week to beat the Bunnies. Similar to a few other games this round, this one may come down to whether a certain player returns or not, and in this case it is obviously the Bunnies' #1 ruck in Ryder. If he plays, they should win, but if he is out for another week, it'll be a genuine 50/50 contest that the Hawks may just get over the line in!

Werewolves vs Owls: Look, the Werewolves have been the dominant force of the comp so far this year, that's no secret. And that has been with Zorko stinking it up over half the time as well. They are still undefeated, #1 on total points, and showing no signs of fading. The Owls lost a thriller last week to the Hedgies, and could have been sitting inside the top 4. Just imagine if they had Docherty right now? Well, they don't, but frankly I don't think it would have made a difference this week. Werewolves to remain undefeated.

Breakers vs Leeches: The Breakers managed to get their first win last week, albeit over a poor Magic outfit. Still, a win is a win, and they scored quite well regardless. However, they still sit inside the bottom 4, and they'll really want to continue on from last week. The Leeches have really fallen off from 2017, but injuries have not helped one bit. Ablett, Viney, Scully, and Roberton all out with various injuries has killed them, and is really testing their depth. They'll be hopeful of Gaz returning this week however, but the others are still a number of weeks away. In saying that though, I'd expect them to beat the Breakers this week, but an upset is on the cards if the Leeches depth fails to perform again.

And again, there is no HGA this week. Let the rivalries begin!
