As long as Tom Boyd plays in the Dogs team Bont will be a top 10 mid.

Are people really worried about Danger long term? I know the general concensus is he’s been pretty average but he is still averaging 112 and has probably the most upside of any player in the AFL.....

Have to jump on close to when he bottoms out...surely cannot go wrong

Great discussion so far guys! Loving all your thoughts.

The one I'm finding hard to place is Cripps. He's been on fire so far, but does have a couple of sub-100 games in there. Do we think he could potentially go 115+ all year? Or fall back into the 105-115 category with a number of others?

He's such a contested beast, but unsure if he can keep it up all year?

I think Crippa is best to think about in the same vein as JPK of a couple of years ago (he averaged 113 that year and the Swans were good).

If the Blues were winning a few more games you'd probably pen him in for 115.  Cripps is a better contested player than JPK, which is saying something.  2016 JPK averaged 17 CPs per game.  Funnily enough, Cripps was second by a whisker.  This year Cripps has started at 19 CPs per game.  That's probably not sustainable.  But even 18 CPs per game probably gets him to 115.

115+?  Eh.  Say he keeps this form up and Carlton win a game here and there (like North are doing at the moment) and then it's achievable.

agree wato,  just risky relying on the coach and match committee to define a players role each week and its impact on your sc score.

Can Macrae keep going at the rate he is? He's tempting, I had 6 prem mids (Dusty, Titch, Fyfe, Cripps, Conigs and Kelly) and was going to finish with Crouch and Danger, but with Kelly living on the pine I might need to find a replacement. Is Macrae worth paying top dollar for? I'm not sure...

We have the exact same midfield and I am having the same dilemma. I’ve decided I will be giving Kelly the boot this week. My thinking on this below.

Kelly to:

Danger - high BE, will wait for further price reduction.
Macrae - can’t actually find a reason against this option.
JPK - only considered due to being so cheap, form isn’t screaming out to pick him.
Zerrett - again cheap price is consideration here, again form not promising.
Crouch - high BE, will wait for further price reduction.

For me, Macrae is the only standout option if I am to trade Kelly this week. It also allows me to bring in a Danger/Crouch later on without having to worry anymore about what to do with Kelly.

In no particular order

Tmitch, Danger, Dusty, Fyfe, Macrae, Oliver, Treloar, Pendles, Conigs, Cripps so hard to pick when you have other guys like M.Crouch, Zerrett, Jelwood and Bont who are all capable as well

Cripps could be the number 1 mid after this week, it's a risk not to have him IMO, has a good record against upcoming opponents.

Assuming I have 2 spots left to fill

Danger, Macrae, Cripps and Crouch would be the 4 I am looking at

Which 2, and why?

I'm honestly thinking about going with Macrae and Crouch and missing Danger all together. Could always get him if an existing mid gets injured as a replacement I guess

Macrae I like as a POD, good scoring and good bye. I started with Crouch this season for a reason, and at 525k next week it's too good to pass

Suggestions?

That's tough!

I still think Danger is worth having. His season could literally take one big game to turn around.

As for the other, Macrae's bye and low selection make him a great choice I feel, I'd go him.

Crouch will be cheap, but prefer Dangerfield as a round 14 player. There's still a lot of mouths to feed in the Adelaide midfield, especially with Sloane and B.Crouch to return. He had 40 touches in round 1 and only just scored 100, that concerns me.

Cripps is a gun and has a had a few big weeks, but I feel like he'll cool off. Could be totally wrong, but that's my gut call.

Im literally facing the exact same thing with Oliver instead of Cripps

Personally im going macrae this week due to bye structure, then im probably going Danger, even at his worst hes still been scoring fine and you cant deny that upside

Tough to pass on crouch being so cheap though, i think hes a really good option as well but id still get danger over him, whos just as underpriced for what he is

RaisyDaisy

Thanks for the input guys - it certainly isn't easy

I guess it comes down to Danger vs Crouch. Is Danger worth the extra 100k?

I could grab Danger this week, and then look to bring in Macrae after his bye (T.Kelly to Macrae in R13), which is only 5 weeks away, and then I get him during the other byes, and that means I get more Danger before his bye

I guess that makes sense, and as mentioned Sloane, B.Crouch still to return and even CEY is doing really well in there too so maybe I might be best passing on Crouch

Danger this week, then finalise my mids with Kelly to Macrae in R13, and in the meantime I can get my def up to scratch

Sounds like a plan
