If you don't have Tom Mitchell, this article is probably the most useful one you'll read each week. If you do, you already know what to do with the C... Each week I will tell you some statistics on a player's last 3 games, their last 3 against this week's opponent, and their last 3 at this ground. I will also do a quick overview on my thoughts and have a guess at their score for this week. From all this, I'll give you my top 5 captain choices for the week.

The facts & thoughts:

Bryce Gibbs
Last 3: 129, 113, 139 (127 avg)
Last 3 against Collingwood: 98, 104, 136 (113 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 101, 113 (107 avg)

Kudos if you started Gibbs in your team. I never doubted he'd be good but he has the worst bye... No reason to expect anything short of big again this week. Prediction - 125

Steele Sidebottom
Last 3: 130, 96, 108 (111 avg)
Last 3 against Adelaide: 116, 110, 123 (116 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 113, 110, 107 (110 avg)

Sidebottom's in some pretty good form to start the year. Racking up possies and kicking goals is all you can ask of your mids. Prediction - 115

Stephen Coniglio
Last 3: 111, 120, 146 (126 avg)
Last 3 against Fremantle: 104, 77, 129 (103 avg)
Last 3 at Manuka: 146, 101, 107 (118 avg)

Loves playing in Canberra and in great form to start the year. Coniglio is a safe pick this week. Prediction - 120

Nat Fyfe
Last 3: 144, 123, 67 (111 avg)
Last 3 against GWS: 120, 109, 86 (105 avg)
Last 3 at Manuka: N/A

Fyfe's never played in Canberra but I don't think the ground really matters to him. After a shaky Round 1, he's proven that he's back to his best. Prediction - 120

Dustin Martin
Last 3: 67, 127, 110 (101 avg)
Last 3 against Brisbane: 131, 63, 127 (107 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 67, 127, 110 (101 avg)

Dusty had a very quiet week last week and rested a lot forward. Whether he was unwell or just filling the forward spot for Caddy, he'll be back to his best this week. Prediction - 115

Jack Macrae
Last 3: 116, 134, 109 (120 avg)
Last 3 against Sydney: 105, 92, 107 (101 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 116, 134, 116 (122 avg)

I decided I had bigger fish to fry than my Merrett to Macrae trade last week and I'm regretting it already. He's killing it so far this year and loves to play at home. Prediction - 125

Zach Merrett
Last 3: 60, 78, 23 (54 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 151, 128, 118 (132 avg)
Last 3 at Etihad: 60, 23, 144 (76 avg)

In any other season, Merrett would be competing for number 1 with an opponent history like that. Instead, I'm still considering trading him. Looks disinterested. If you're going to give him one last chance, at least this is the right team to be facing. Prediction - 75

Tom Mitchell
Last 3: 148, 137, 156 (147 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 136, 114, 101 (117 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 148, 137, 156 (147 avg)

The numbers above more than speak for themselves. Prediction - 140

Max Gawn
Last 3: 114, 78, 138 (110 avg)
Last 3 against Hawthorn: 144, 85, 111 (113 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 114, 138, 70 (107 avg)

Big Max has enjoyed playing the Hawks in the past and looks incredibly good this year. Big Boy is no slouch of an opponent but Maxy won't mind. Prediction - 115

Patrick Dangerfield
Last 3: 102, 118 (110 avg)
Last 3 against St Kilda: 117, 95, 122 (111 avg)
Last 3 at Kardinia: 114, 130, 134 (126 avg)

Danger is finally back at the Cattery where he loves it and up against a struggling opponent. This is one of those ones that could be massive. Prediction - 130

LAHUG'S POD!

Joel Selwood
Last 3: 90, 110, 122 (107 avg)
Last 3 against St Kilda: 175, 113, 88 (125 avg)
Last 3 at Kardinia: 64, 2, 117 (61 avg)

43 disposals, 8 marks, 9 tackles, and a goal. This is what Selwood did last time the Cats played the Saints. The Cats won by 38 (and I daresay they'll win by more this time) and it was party time for the Geelong midfield. St. Kilda are poor right now so why won't the same happen again? Prediction - 150 (maybe...)

The verdict:
1.   Tom Mitchell (140)
2.   Patrick Dangerfield (130)
3.   Bryce Gibbs (125)
4.   Jack Macrae (125)
5.   Nat Fyfe (120)

WhatMate

Cheers for the write up mate!

Was considering taking a risk and going with Gibbs - anything apart from mitchell is a risk lol

Going to be wet, i dont think thats necessarily bad for him but dont think he will put up his best AF score though

LaHug

Sorry guys, I know it's too late but the only PODs I'd have risked this week are ones playing at Etihad. Good luck.
