Reckon there may be some problems for Brisbane after last nights game in that I think Cutler may get a rest and McStay and Barrett will be looked at, Also the Mellee in first quarter may invoke some fines for striking.
Also may be some more touching the umpire controversies for an Adelaide player.

Hurn will be in trouble

Hurn will be in trouble

Shouldnt b because the bulldogs player ran straight into hurn who was standing still. But because the bulldogs player was knocked out at least 1

RaisyDaisy

If Hurn gets a week for that the world has gone mad

Even Bartel said it's just an accident and Hurn should be fine

Yup. Hurn chose to turn into him and, even if it wasn't with much force, the Bulldogs player went off on a stretcher so I'd say 1 as well.

OK we will see how consistent the single man MRO is this week.
It appears that if concussion is involved an automatic suspension is invoked.
So my beef at the moment is if not a deliberate act then why is the suspension higher than any deliberate striking offence. Which is worse Hurns stopping or Howes deliberate punch to Cripps which was the intent.
Will be watching all sanctions this week with interest.

What was Hurn supposed to do??
Vanish into thin air?
He just braced for inevitable contact.
Could not do anything else.

It's honestly so sad looking at that Hurn incident and then looking at the Walker incident and thinking they could both have the same punishment. One bloke intentionally runs past the ball, goes off the ground to hit another player, whereas another is apparently expected to use his teleportation device to get out of the way. If anyone was in that same position they'd do the same thing instead of having his head go smack right into his mid section..

Hurn will be cleared did nothing wrong was stationary the bulldog player ran into him if he didn't turn his body a bit before impact he probably would have copped it in family jewels

jfitty

I'm thinking he'll get a week for that.

Agreed that there wasn't much in the 'bump' as such, but he didn't have eyes for the footy at all. You could argue he was protecting himself, but he definitely wasn't playing the ball.

Match Review of remaining Rd18 games completed.
8 charges laid. 4 other matters explained in detail.
Tom Cutler can accept two matches, rough conduct on LMurphy.
Daniel McStay can accept $2000, rough conduct on LBrown.
Jake Barrett can accept $2000 sanction, rough conduct on RLaird.
Daniel Howe can accept 2 games, striking PCripps.
Daniel Howe referred directly to Tribunal for tripping ZFisher. No early plea available on this charge. Severe impact.
Ricky Henderson can accept $2000 sanction, rough conduct on LCasboult.
Jack Macrae can accept $2000 sanction, striking LShuey.
Josh Dunkley can accept $1000 sanction, careless contact with umpire Chris Donlon.

Brandon Matera cleared contact ZMerrett. Merrett is pushed in the back with Matera in a near-stationary position in front of him. It was view of Match Review Officer Matera did not elect to bump and did not make forceful contact from front-on.
Daniel McStay cleared contact TDoedee. Doedee lowers himself in a bid to avoid McStay's tackle, who makes high contact. It was MRO view that McStay made a legitimate attempt to tackle. No further action taken.
Tom Hawkins cleared contact BFritsch. Hawkins made contact to Fritsch with an open hand in a pushing motion to the chest area, with incidental high contact made at the time. It was the view of Match Review Officer it was not a reportable offence & no further action was taken.
Shannon Hurn cleared contact MHoneychurch. Hurn takes up a stationary position as Honeychurch comes towards him. It was view that Hurn did not have a realistic alternative way to approach the contest. No further action was taken.

Hurn Cleared

Agree. Even with maroon. blue and gold glasses Cutler was definitely worth 2.  Other 2 were in contests so rough conduct probably merited with fine,

I didn't see the Cutler one, or I can't remember it, I just mean Hurn being cleared haha
