Working so far! ;)

He still had a BE of -23 this week! Wish I had the option of luxury/cover  trades.

Rice (E) 80 v Hibberd
Hibberd is a spud. Hasn't gone above 99 all year. Not one tonne.
Unless he pulls something out of his rear it's probably safer to bank the 80.

Yep was my exact thinking
Hibberd is averaging 76 and thought if Rice got that I’d take it. Had Hibbo all year and well aware he hasn’t hit 100 yet. Unlikely I will miss out on too many pts by accepting Rice’s 80. Hopefully it’s not a case of famous last words.

Holding my Fyfe trade until next week, so I take Ballard’s 72 or field Ahern?

Ballard's 72, easily.

Most you'll lose is 10-20 if Ahern goes around 90, but he is more likely to nosedive against a packed Sydney Midfield and go sub 50 so I'd pass.

Cheers torp! That’s the way I was leaning, think I just needed reassurance it was the right way to go.

Different question to the norm here...

Is Witherden good enough to leave on the field as D6? He's currently D7, but depending on what I do with Sicily, one option would be to trade Sicily to O' Riordan, and promote Witherden to D6.

I'm beginning to think this could be a viable option, as I'm not confident fielding 2/3 of Walters/Robinson/C Curnow up forward, and would like to get a R Gray type, and Walters/Robbo to M10.

Hey SL,

Currently I'm running the gauntlet and have Witherden & Heater at D5 & D6 with Austin & Mihocek on the bench. Yeo, Simmo, Laird & Hurley (despite a downer last night) I'm comfortable with at D1-4 but obviously the Witherden/Heater thing is probably the weakness. So I'm planning to upgrade Austin to Webster OR Luke Ryan after next week, and then the week after for SC finals I'll downgrade Mihocek to an Eagle non-player to be able to loophole every week.  I was waiting for Lloyd to have a downer, but I don't see that happening.  :P

In relation to your situation I think Witherden is a perfectly reasonable D6, especially as a unique in leagues. I think he could match, if not beat some of the Lloyds/Hurns/Crisps in the run home, who would be your direct competition. I also have Taranto floating at M10/F7 so I definitely see the usefulness there. How many trades do you have there?

Cheers Torp. I know how you feel re: Lloyd, we shoulda picked him up when he was 440k earlier in the year.

Currently 4 Trades, Sicily --> O'Riordan, Giro --> R. Gray (Walters to M9) leaves me with 2 trades and a bit of cash (at least 150k).

Lowest av. Player on each line and bench becomes (excl. ruck):

D: Witherden (O'Riordan, Duman)
M: Merrett (Walters (F/M), Ahern (F/M), Dawson)
F: Robinson (C Curnow, Battle)

Yep I'd be doing that right now if I were you. I also have 4 trades left and currently looks like this;

D: Witherden (Austin, Mihocek)
M: Merrett (Kelly, Ballard (F/M), Sier)
F: Taranto (F/M) (JJK, Daniels (FM))

Issues are Heater at D5 also, so I'll probably hold a week and let them all fatten in price, then for Elxam R16 & 1st week of finals will pull either Austin->Lienert OR Freo 102k rookie & either Heater->Lloyd or Sier->Hoff if I feel like Sier has fattened enough. the other option for trade two would be Mihocek->Webster, but that'd mean I'd have to decide to pick two of Heater, Witherden & Webster every week and I know I'll lose points somewhere, much like the Taranto/JJK dilemma I face currently.  :-X

If there's one thing I've learned this year, it's that you have to be real careful about trading in fallen premiums eg. JJK for me this season. They can be very valuable, but they need to have a role you are confident will deliver a plethora of points. In any case, you're better to jump on the break out types, for example Brayshaw, Taranto, JOM, Dev Smith etc. if you want to have a shot at the big prize.

Rhonchi or Gwelphi?

Gotta love diversity.

Not Smith or Jones these  days.
