Due to Coffield and O'Shea both not being selected for Round 1, my current structure has me looking at one of these three players to fill my D3 spot (or maybe D4 if things change).

I like them all to a varying degree, and thought it was worth starting a thread to discuss these options given there would likely be others in the same boat.

Here are the relevant stats:

BONNER, Riley (PA)
Price: $257,300
2017 games: 3 (last 2 of the season plus EF)
2017 avg: 77
JLT avg/PPM: 62.2/0.75
Ownership: 9%
Case for: Has shown that when he gets the opportunity he should score well, and with Pittard out for a few weeks he should get a chance to cement his spot in the side.

BYRNE, Ciaran (CARL)
Price: $229,300
2017 games: 3
2017 avg: 46.3
JLT avg/PPM: 62.1/0.72
Ownership: 2%
Case for: Given where the Blues are at, he would seem to have the best JS out of the 3 options if he is able to play well. Back in 2016 averaged 67.4 over 11 games.

ELLIS, Corey (RICH)
Price: $228,400
2017 games: 6
2017 avg: 46.2
JLT avg/PPM: 75.1/1.16
Ownership: 4%
Case for: Scored well in the JLT and when he had a solid run at it in 2016, averaged 61.7 across 11 games. Coming into his 4th year in the AFL system, but JS is the main issue here when Houli returns.

Interested in everyone's thoughts!

Riley Bonner's in my team, feel he has a real chance to score well and be a quick upgrade.

I was on him before Pittard got injured, but that gives him an even better chance to be one of the main guys out of defence. He's a fantastic kick, and should only need 18-ish touches to get 80+.

I don't mind Byrne or Ellis, but feel like Bonner has be the better scoring potential (even if he is a little more expensive).

Bully

Ellis will be under intense pressure to hold his spot, still have Houli, Rioli & Prestia to come in. Not to mention Jack Higgins who has done nothing wrong in his build up.

Bonner would be the man from this group.

Agree Bonner is the one to select from this group, but at his price he is a really risky option. Wouldn't want him any higher than D4, preferably a D5

Where is confirmation Coffield is not in?

The Saints only announced that Hunter Clark would be debuting. Does't rule him out exactly, but you'd think they'd have announced if he was.

Currently due to rookie options and not liking many premo's in defence I've got Bonner at D3 (in a team with Fyfe at M5 and D.Smith at F5). I think the better scoring rookie options (Doedee, Murray, Finlayson) are in defence so I prefer this structure for early season points.

Getting a bit off topic, but I think if I was to make any structural change it would be moving Keefe forward, and bringing in Savage for K.Lambert. But I really like Lambert as my POD pick.

There looks like there is going to be enough cheap rookies so why would you look at any of those guys for maybe a handful of extra points ?

Makes sense as a D3.Then rookies for D4 - D8.
No Coffield also means one less option.

Don't think there are enough cheap rookies if you are selecting one at D3

Football Factory

especially if half of them play like crap first round  :D

Thoughts on Bonner's JS?

In the side for tomorrow, but Pittard and Broadbent both injured and McKenzie an emergency. I like him, but I'm not confident he'll stay in the side long enough to make enough cash.

Both of them are 4-6 weeks away, plenty of time to make enough cash.

Don't think McKenzie will push him out of the site either.
