Simpson said there would be 2-3 debutants for West Coast, but didn't name them.  Assume Venables, Ryan and Waterman?

Waterman would be handy, really rate him.
Three Eagles rooks to start? Seems risky business.

Sure, you'd have to make an educated guess on JS & expected output at AFL level. He could potentially play a few games and get dropped for the rest of the year (Mutimer) but that's the risks you take. Venables I feel is close to a lock in the forward line, Ryan I'm not sure about. Waterman may not be a wise first up pick, but one to watch over the first 2 rounds for sure.

Waterman stats -

2017 (Injured for first 16 rounds)

Reserves (Rd 17, 18, 19)

17 - 8 disposals, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 2 FF
18 - 11 disposals, 7 marks, 0.3
19 - 13 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles, 0.2

League (Rd 20, 21, 22, 23)

20 - 19 disposals, 7 marks, 1 tackle, 2.2
21 - 15 disposals, 8 marks, 2.2
22 - 14 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 3.0
23 - 9 disposals, 4 marks, 1 tackle, 3 FF, 1.1

So obviously warmed into it a bit.

2016 EOY Colts averages

13.8 Kicks
6.9 Marks
20.7 Disposals
7.2 Marks
2.8 Goals
2.1 Points
2.1 Tackles

Not by any stretch saying that he's the next Nic Newman, but if he plays regularly I'd expect a healthy 60+ average, even if thats not from the start of the season.

I watched his AMA a few days ago and they are the 3 I thought

Team Announcements thread

Finally starting to feel real!
Cant wait for the who to start thread ;D

3 of Banfield, Kelly, Barry and Holman will be my question I think ::)
Shouldn't be hard when Barry's not named.
I think it will be Barry vs. Amon at the match committee. A real coin flip. Amon is still young with plenty of scope for improvement but we sorta know what he brings to the table. Solid work ethic with good aerobic capacity but not gonna really hurt ya. Barry is untapped. He has better power & the dreaded 'potential'. I think the committee will be keen to give him a shot. If that is the case it still leads to another problem....Round 2. IN: R. Gray (Motlop pushes higher up the ground) & OUT: D. Barry?

Am I right in saying that there is more Emergencies named this year? Yuck if there is.
Correct, it's been done so they can name rucks int he squad and still have 3 other players. So Preussy will be in the 26 every round

thanks bud, could be comical

Danger playing round 1 - Fox Sports
Also says Scott will address it on telly tonight.

Also also says Gaz is in more doubt than Danger!  Wouldn't have picked that.  Danger looking like Mr. Unbreakable like Pendles was pre-2017.
Hey guess what.  Scott talked, and magically the Fox Sports article drastically changes.  No longer is Gaz in doubt, he's gonna play... ::)

I don't know where anyone gets the idea that Danger is playing? Everything I've heard from teammates and coaches has hinted at him not playing. They will be careful, it's round 1 not the GF

It's hard to know with Patrick Dramafield. Fair enough he's the best player in the comp but even in his Crows days he didn't mind going down like a sack of spuds only to rise like Lazarus.

Haha yeah but a hammy is a hammy. Even on the minor side he could be ok to play but it would be a big risk

"It does fit with the initial diagnosis which was that it was so minor that it was actually quite hard to work out whether he'd done anything significant or not," the coach said.

At Collingwood's press conference Buckley confirmed that Stephenson and Murray would play this weekend against Hawthorn.

There's another of pair of planned rookies locked in.

Murray looks good Stephenson will be handy if you only have 180K to fill a position but I'm trying to avoid expensive rookies
