GWS are just trolling

Lobb will go solo for sure

Dawson is nothing but cover for when all other rucks are injured

Unless they feel Lobb is slightly underdone.

I think that's a bit of an over exaggeration haha. It's certainly not high quality but there's still plenty of AFL listed players running around in it

Tom Mitchell was racking up 40+ and 4 goals a week and still couldn't get a game in the Swans 22. The Suns were struggling so bad for players one year they dragged Matty Lappin out of retirement at 40 and played him in the goal square. It's about knowing the situation, if someone is smashing the NEAFL in a practice game I'm going to take it with a grain of salt considering how poor the league is.

To be fair it was the Swans reserves so the opposition wasn't exactly suburban no-names.

The Swans wouldn't have even had a fit ruck on their list for that game. They were contemplating trying to draw Kurt Tippett out of retirement they're that desperate.

Lobb is a ruckman, was recruited as such, just had Mummy to contend with so spent time playing as a tall utiity. Ranked number 2 at GWS for contested marks last year, also played two cracking finals as first ruck, I'd be staggered if Simpson plays ahead of him. If we're going to get ultra critical about preseason opposition then look no further than Darcy Cameron, probably the worst back-up ruckman in the AFL.

Money Shot

Lobb is the better ruckman, forward, athlete and has much more potential that Simpson so if he is fit he will play, everyone knows that. But the question is whether or not he is match ready as he has had groin issues and although he has played a practice match in the NEAFL that doesn't necessarily mean he will play round 1.

Teams are starting to release round 1 is just 1 round and if there player isn't 100% fit they will let them rest another week as it will be better in the long run.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-early-mail-round-1-richmond-to-be-without-four-premiership-stars-for-carlton-clash/news-story/e6841429d8251a66fb87baf75f37952b

The Giants are hopeful Tom Scully and Jacob Hopper will overcome knee and groin injuries respectively to play Round 1, but a host of stars will miss â€" Zac Williams, Rory Lobb, Ryan Griffen being among them. Zac Langdon impressed in pre-season and could make his senior debut, while Nick Shipley is also an unlikely bolter to feature.

Haven't been paying too much attention but if the Geelong Gaz/Danger article is anything to go by I wouldn't be placing much faith at all into the FoxSports article.

Extended bench with Simpson. For those contemplating Lobb, are you going to pick him?

Teams will be finalised tomorrow night so no need to stress yet

It is for me. It’s either Lobb@F4 and Savage@D3 or Bundy@F4 and Simpson@D3......

Interesting that they’ve named Patton in the ruck with the 2 ruckmen on the extended bench. My read on that is they haven’t decided whether Lobb is right to go as yet, so want the flexibility of being able to drop either him or Dawson from the 22?

What I think too.
