No recent news but I reckon Lobb will play round 1 and I think this is how it's going to go down at 6.25pm on Thursday;

GWS

Ruck: Lobb, Kelly, Coniglio

Interchange from: D Simpson.. and seven others

So we won't know until around 5pm Friday whether Simpson will play alongside Lobb which is annoying for those like me who won't be picking Lobb if Simpson is there too.

Has played a practice match in the NEAFL and scored 3 goals and played in the ruck for a fair amount of time is what I have heard however I have not actually seen anything and have heard that from Bully.

Thanks for the update. He's a lock if named R1 without Simpson, but just a bit concerned about his health.

The less people that pick him the better, as far as I'm concerned

Everyone will jump on after 2 rounds if he is any good.

Best case scenario is you have a POD for 2 weeks scoring 100s, which is what everyone should be expecting from their 400k+ players anyway.

I’m looking for advantages for taking a risk on him, but I just don’t see any.
I don't agree with expecting 100+ for 400 k in the fwd or back lines.
90+ is a win. How many are expecting anyone over even 500 k going 100+ down back apart from Laird and maybe Hurley?. Simpson rarely averages over 95.
In the fwds only Menegola averaged 100 last year.
Average over 100 is bloody hard to do in these positions.

Its not a hassle, not like you'd replace him with anyone from the Thursday game anyway

It can affect things tho. For example someone might be tossing up a K.Simpson+fwd rookie vs Lobb + C.Ellis combo. So if they lock in C.Ellis over Simpson hoping Lobb to be rucking solo, then Dawson is named and its too late to switch to Kade.

Not really a big problem - nothing a bit of forward planning can't figure out

Come up with Plan A and Plan B, and factor your options taking the fixture into consideration

I've got Lobb at F4, and if he doesn't line up solo Friday 5pm then everyone bar Rich/Car players are all still available so I don't think that's a problem

Let's be serious, Dusty, Cripps and Simmo are the only relevant prems you need to make a decision on (Or Kruez if you're willing to splash that much), and you probably should already have made that decision by now anyway

Ellis/Byrne I wouldn't bother with when Naughton/Coff etc much cheaper and similar JS

To be fair, I could probably kick 3 goals in a NEAFL practice game.

Great ... and what team are you playing in  ::) ???

Mat0369

Have you ever watched the NEAFL? It's barely a step above local footy. The practice games the quality is even lower.

I think that's a bit of an over exaggeration haha. It's certainly not high quality but there's still plenty of AFL listed players running around in it

The latest on the Lobb/Simpson conundrum. One thing that I'm getting from this is that they will not be playing both together. So whoever is named on the filed on Thurs night will be going solo.

"Which way Cameron leans is anyone's guess at this stage, and Mumford, in his new role as GWS ruck coach, wasn't giving anything away when he fronted the media at UNSW Canberra Oval on Tuesday.

"I think 'Lobby' is putting his best foot forward, but he's got a real challenge on his hands because Dawson Simpson has been playing really well," he said.

"As for who gets to play I'm not too sure just yet. It's certainly going to be an interesting match committee trying to work out who to pick."

To be fair it was the Swans reserves so the opposition wasn't exactly suburban no-names.

RaisyDaisy

GWS are just trolling

Lobb will go solo for sure

Dawson is nothing but cover for when all other rucks are injured
