Lobb has had an interrupted pre-season due to a groin issue and didn't play either JLT game but from all reports he has played a couple of NEAFL matches while the JLT was on to gain some match fitness.

1. Are you considering him if he's named round 1?

2. Will you still pick him even if Dawson Simpson is named in the final 22 for round 1?

For me it's:

1. Yes - Was in my first few drafts but took him out due to the groin issue but if he has been gaining some match fitness over the last couple of weeks then I'll certainly consider him

2. No - Simpson will heavily impact Lobb's scoring ability

Yes & Yes, sometimes you have to back your judgement and hope the GWS hierarchy see it the same way. Lobb is a far superior ruckman to Simpson and that should play out eventually even if it isn't round 1.

Lobbs a better ruck for sure, but also a better fwd. With Mumford, didn't they play Lobb fwd with Patton and Cameron? Will they be happy to lose a tall from that set up or look to keep it? Will they sacrifice Patton at times in the ruck or will Keefe be used in that role?
Interesting to see what happens.
I have concerns picking someone who's never played a season as 1st ruck with groin issues and limited preseason.
Nank was great to start the year but they ran him into the ground and dropped off. I guess if Lobb starts well alone and then they bring Simpson or even Flynn in to give him a rest then it should be an easy trade to say a fallen Buddy.

Had him locked in my side in December when this opened too, but now I'm asking myself even if he lines up Round 1, is there really a massive gain by starting him as opposed to just waiting and seeing how he goes for a couple of rounds and then just use a correction trade to bring him in a few rounds in if he is producing?

Just not sure there is enough benefit to actually starting him considering we haven't seen him play yet

I currently don’t have him as taking a risk in someone 50k cheaper but He could easily come back into my side as currently I have $80k left over

Actually if named solo for round 1 he will be in for sure

GWS have too many tall forwards and are one of the worst pressure sides inside their front 50. They have announced a few times that it's an area they are really looking to improve so I can't see them going with Lobb forward ontop of Patton, Cameron and Himmelberg. Having 3 is almost to many these days. I expect Lobb to play Ruck and Dawson to be playing Neafl

I agree it’s either lobb or simpson not both.

He's got a bit of a Belcho vibe. It's a pass

If a Belcho vibe means scoring 90 + for 400k fwd I'll take it. If it means he'll swap in and out with Dawson in the starting team ala Belcho/Berger no way.

I'm thinking more the year everyone jumped on because he was cheap and he spudded it up. He was supposed to be a good pick due to his hit out to advantage numbers but you can't play if you're underdone in the ruck. Too many contests, not enough chop out. He is a better forward though, so he has that going for him.

Toga

Yeah I would think he will play ruck by himself in round 1. GWS have to shed a tall out of their fwd structure for pressure reasons, and Himmelberg did ok in the finals as a third tall.

Will see if he's match fit come Round 1 but has to be strongly considered if he's in the team without Simpson.

Looked to be moving freely in the brief footage it shows and he said he expects to be predominantly in the ruck this year

Will be hard not to pick if named Round 1. I know I said earlier we could just wait and see first before committing but with the lack of cheaper options that I actually like he might pick himself
