Amazing that we are having so much trouble with the rucks this year.  It is always a fancied position for SC scoring.

If Sinclair was 5cm taller I'd be much more interested in him.  Thankfully Lobb is a good height to take advantage of SC's HTA love.

So yeah, compared to the forwards he's probably got a good chance of being at the top by virtue of being a tall bloke playing sole ruck, ala Witts last year (who averaged 94 - which you'd gladly take at F6).

If he's sole ruck round 1 I'll probably find a way to get him to F5.  I think he was in my first team..... and may very well end up in the last iteration.

Looked to be moving freely in the brief footage it shows and he said he expects to be predominantly in the ruck this year

Will be hard not to pick if named Round 1. I know I said earlier we could just wait and see first before committing but with the lack of cheaper options that I actually like he might pick himself

I went looking on the GWS website because I had seen an earlier video ( around early to mid Jan, but didn't find it ) of  a Leon Camoren interview about Lobb that said he wasn't actually injured at that time, he had groin issues all last season and the best course of management was to rest him over the pre season to get him through a long season ahead in the ruck. He said running is not the problem, so he can stay fit, it's the competitive work he can't do. Leon also spoke about the draft rookies settled in well over Xmas and that Toby Greene's broken foot was slow to heal and he won't be on the track til mid feb.

Reckon he's a bad pick. Underdone and won't get through games as well as some would hope. Iffy at best

Agreed. No point in picking him. Better picks in fwd at the same price.  ;)

I think it's a bit of a double standard if you're prepared to pick NicNat if he lines up round 1, but you wouldn't pick Lobb.

IMO they are the same sort of injury risk, with the same sort of upside in their respective positions.  Lobb is arguably less of a risk because you will be much more likely to have cover if he misses a game.

Just food for thought.

Money Shot

If Lobb was a certainty for a 90 average and 20+ games you would pick him.

It will be really interesting as I have opted for a guns and rooks approach and Lobb would compromise that a bit but he could score just as much as Greene across the season (the forward I would be dropping for him)

If he plays round 1 and is the solo ruck I think I will take the punt on him as he will be a massive POD.

id say NN is a much bigger injury risk then Lobb.

However you cant compare Lobb and NN in scoring.

NN has gone in his last 5 years in full games

114 100 91 104 106

Lobb people are projecting will kill it as the #1 ruck because thats what he did in the 2 games he was sole ruck last year.

but your comparing 5-6 years of being a gun  ruck to 2 games.

I agree with this. Add to that he was rucking against Vardy and Nank who are easier to score against than your Sandi,Goldy,Martin,Grundy,Ryder,Kreuz,Gawn types.

Counterpoint: he's 207cm.

Again it's a small sample size. Apart from the last 2 games he had 10 or less hitouts in 12 games. Never went over 14 in the rest.

But has he actually had a bad one?

I know he has been managed to an extent because of groin issues which is def a worry, but if he has been actively training or even running/staying fit then I wouldn't think that's too bad. Does anyone actually know?

It's the guys who have missed massive chunks and not trained at all that I def want to stay away from
