Given the hype around this bloke due to his JLT performances, I thought it time he had his own thread ;D

JLT1: 21 disposals, 7 marks, 1 tackle, 8 contested possessions, 1 clearance, 85% efficiency, 85% TOG - 145 SC
JLT2: 27 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles, 8 contested possessions, 1 clearance, 1 goal, 77% efficiency, 90% TOG - 110 SC

Also, his last 8 games last year following his return from injury/being dropped:

101, 125, 107, 103, 115, 94, 76, 81 - Average 100.25 SC

$479,900

Anyone tempted?

Money Shot

tempted yes, will I do it probably not :P

The thing that scares me off is the fact that he was dropped due to form last year. He did come back and kill it though which gives me some confidence.

Hurley, Laird and Hibberd have been locked in my side from day one and I can't see who I would drop for him though.

kosduras

ive been looking at him closley,

been getting progressivly better for the last few years, only real reason why im tempted is given the talent availble in defence this year if he avgs 95 your doing well and is a great POD

I thought he was abit cheaper then that.

Id go Jake Llyod personally at $200 more. Just seems slightly more solid albiet not as much upside.

85 the year before so rock solid and a 91.5 last year taking out the concussion.

Lloyd also pumped out a 26 disposal 9 marks 65% efficiency game for 104SC.

Savage seems to be more effective for SC when he gets the ball as LLoyd racks up uncontested stuff but im banking on LLoyd getting it alot more so more consistent scoring.

Then Laird Hurley Hibberd look a class above

Think I can remember Savage scoring well in other years in preseason comp , best ever avg. last year not saying he can't improve but not for me at his price also another R14 bye which I don't need

LordSneeze

Another player who might or might not break into that top 6 group.

Top 6 would be a 95 average and if he averages that you will be able to pick him up within $50k of this starting price.

Definite no for me as I will be waiting to see if he is the one in that group that turns into a top 10 def option

Agree, prefer Lloyd at basically the same price.

Taking both - good value considering draw

He's teasing that's for sure. I have posted somewhere previously that his form and dropping early 2017 were some concern and MS has pointed that out already here. He has the potential to score well but for me Roberton is still the saints go to in defence, even though the JLT hasn't shown it.
I'll be starting Laird, Hibberd and Simmo and if I have one saints defender it will likely be Coffield.

For those who have Billings in their sides is it not the same logic to pick Savage....? Both been tracking upwards, both finished off last year strongly. If you’re picking Billings why would you not pick Savage? Or is it not so much about Savage but more about the other players available in that position?

meow meow

Savage gets that it's FOOTball, like Heath Shaw does.

Also doesn't mind the odd 60m goal

87 at worst.

Bully

He's tempting me more & more, might go down this path if I play a D4.

Billings was a high draft pick who has killed the end of last year due to be added into midfield rotations, forwards this year are a lottery so he is as good a pick as any to be the top forward come the end of the year.

Savage will not outscore Hurley, Laird, Hibberd and Yeo and although he could go close to a 90 average at 478k i would want to be certain of it.

Why do people who don't watch games comment? Stop giving bad advice.
Billings was not in the midfield rotations at all last season... at any stage. He's always been a HFF with the very ocassional stint on the wing and will continue to be for the rest of his career. This is where he plays his best footy.

As for Savage, he will be a 90+ player. I'm thinking 93. Had him locked since day 1. He's going to be take Robertons role as the go-to player out of defense. Kick happy and hits the targets.. but please don't pick him. I'm happy to have him all to myself.
