RD who do you have in your F6 and forward bench?

Currently have Fritsch at F6 and then I'll take whoever is available to fill the bench spots

I think we need to start deep in the forwards because most of the forward rookies like being Pickett 2.0 so I don't want to field any of them (Garlett, Ryan, Rioli etc)

Yeah sweet. I'm trying to experiment by getting Christensen down to F6 somehow. Got any ideas on "cheaper" fwds I could test out at F4-F5?

Can get Christensen to F5 without to much drama, no chance of getting him to F6 though.

By normal role do u mean like last year where to took a back seat to Williams or like 2016 and before where he was head honcho? If Whitfield takes Williams' spot that along with Heater's age makes me very wary after watching him last year and owning him.
On Sicily I'm finding D4 harder to fill and regardless if he's D4 or F4 he still takes money and a position in our teams. Lack of Rookies looks even worse fwd than back now that Ahern is unlikely and Finlayson+Coffield popping up. But I'd rather go Bundy F4 and hope it's still viable when round 1 rookies are revealed.

I'd be surprised if someone of Whitfield's ability spends all year at half back

Plenty of more choices down back than there is in the forward imo, so that's why I am looking at Sicily at F4 and Bundy F5

Agree with RD here. Whitfield is simply too talented to not utilise around the ball.

RD who do you have in your F6 and forward bench?

The importance of having footskills and talent across halfback is being grossly underrated here. Rebounding efficiently and effectively is one of the most critical parts of the game? Why wouldn't someone with his talent be used in such a role?

Kelly, Coniglio, Shiel, Ward, Scully with extremely highly rated kids in Hopper, Taranto, etc coming through... I don't think 'talent around the ball' is really a GWS problem.

Beastmode = Rhys Mathieson

I didn't say Whitfield won't play there - I said he won't play there all year. Nobody is "grossly underrating" that position

The implication is he is too talented to play at halfback,  ridiculous in my view

RaisyDaisy

LOL, you're way off

Laird, Yeo, Hibberd etc etc yeah they're all not talented enough, that's why they play half back....

You misinterpreted what I said, simple.

elephants

Haha your words mate, just admit you're wrong or have made a mistake/misstep every now and then. Simple.

LOL ;)

RaisyDaisy

My words exactly

I clearly said "all year" when I made the statement which means the mistake/misstep is all on you ;) :P

Because someone of his talents can't be used at halfback!!! He must be midfield!!! Despite this team lacking experience at halfback and having an embarrassment of riches through the middle!

Daicos.

His initial quote stated he'd be surprised if somebody of Whitfield's talents played the full year at half back, you misinterpreted, also your list of talent, Whitfield has more potential than almost all of them minus Kelly and Coniglio.

Intersting that Dawson Simpson scored 83 with only 11 hitouts. If Lobb was to have a set back and need to miss a large chunk of footy he could be a serious consideration
Dawson had 11 hitouts from 80% game time.
Flynn had 7 hitouts from 38% game time.
I haven't watched the game yet but will with a close eye on this. Not because I want Dawson or Flynn. Rather a case of how much do they need Lobb as R1. Given the strength of GWS mids, their ruck probably isn't that important.
Haven't heard or read anything about Lobb in ages.

Simpson is a no from me. 30 odd games over 8 odd years. Even Witts had 40 odd in half the time & better JS. Maybe in AF but def not RDT or SC imo. Even in AF I wouldn't want to risk wasting any early trades in the RUC when there will be so much rookie swapping/cash chasing to be done. Flynn showed a bit. I reckon he will be second in line at GWS within 12 months. Looking forward to seeing English play today. I missed whatever games he played last year & also missed his AFLX game.

Bont's ownership percentage rising with every passing second...

He looks great but playing forward is a slight concern.

The Sicily/Keeffe combo now locked, not even concerned about Keeffe getting dropped as it just creates a floating donut.

SilverLion

Sicily playing the Hibberd/Robertson/Yeo etc. role for the hawks. Cheap, DEF/FWD, good bye, so everything points to him being a good option.

I just can't stand the bloke though.
