Ryan Garthwaite could be another defensive rookie popping up.  Had not appeared on m,y radar till this afternoon. Realise JLT but probably one to keep an eye on.

Good chance to come in for Broad, but that's the catch, Broad suspended for only 3 games. Risky.

I think it's more likely someone like Reece Conca, Corey Ellis or even Jayden Short will slot in rather than Ryan Garthwaite.

Depends on whether Carlton play a tall forward line, with all this talk about Kreuzer playing forward we might be forced to go tall.

Guys going OUT my team:
Shaun Higgins
Nathan Hrovat
Jordan Lewis
Nathan Jones
Zach Merrett
Toby Nankervis
Jake Stringer

Guys coming into my team:
Jack Ziebell
Alex Neal-Bullen
James Harmes
Jake Melksham
Josh Caddy
Corey Ellis
Trent Cotchin

Looks like I definitely needed some tinkering. I might have to turn my daily tinkering time up to 3 hours instead of the standard 2.

Stringer copped a headknock and a bunch of the Essendon players copped Gastro before the game.

I wouldn't take much out of the game.

I took 2 things out of the game. 1) Dusty is a lock - 106 SC from 66% game time coming off a 5-6 month bender.

2) Devon Smith was brought in to play as a midfielder. He played the whole game in the mids which will be his role this season (similar to his Geelong Falcons under 18s role). Another match as a 80%+ time mid and he will be in my forward line for round 1.

What are your thoughts on Parish? He played full time mid too but a little lower TOG. Had a fair bit of the ball, with a lot of contested possessions.

He is a gun. Needs to work on his disposal efficiency. He is a 3rd year player while Smith has more experience and more seasoned physically. I concede Parish has made good ground physically but I'd suspect when Goddard, Hep and Zerrett have more game time that Parish will not spend as much time in the midfield.

Garthwaite played on Mckernan and was beaten in a fair few marking contests. Essendon were terrible and hardly went forward but Mckernan was their best player so I don't think that helps Garthwaits cause

Smith has done his SC interest no harm today

I have Devon in my side but I'm not sold from that game. Merrett went off in the first quarter and Heppell only played a half. Would like to see how many minutes he plays on ball in the 2nd game

Yeah, I'm not completely sold on Dev just yet. I'll wait for JLT 2 before I decide to officially lock and load.

That said, I did bring him in to see how my team looks with him in it, and I really don't mind the structure.

Ingram

Main concern with Smith is durability. He chose Essendon for our rehabilitation facilities after all.

I just noticed that Ahern didn't play. Any reason for that?

Yeah a bit strange both Ahern and also Balic for the Dees did not get a run after both being talked up a bit both Norf and Dees had a few that did not get a run where as the Bombers and Tiges gave all a run I have not heard anything Q seems a bit of a wasted opportunity.
