Kelly v Crouch V Cripps V Bont is gonna be the hardest decision for M5 ever. Currently have Bont...
Crouch > Kelly > Cripps/Bont is how I see the scoring going but Cripps is 50-75k cheaper which is what makes him enticing.
Kelly and Bont have much higher ceilings than the other two. I am predicting both of them will average around the 120 mark this year.
Cripps scored a 172 in his 6th AFL game. Has also posted another couple over 150 and numerous 130+ scores. Crouch averaged 125 post bye and had 6 out of those 10 games 130+. I think all have high ceilings and i think it's very hard to split em but i would probs have em ranked Crouch/Kelly>Cripps>Bont

In season averages however, very few players will ever average 120 or more and even fewer can do it with predicted regularity. The ones that do are typically midfielders who can win their own ball, clear their own ball and kick goals. Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Fyfe and Dangerfield are the only ones I can think of that have gone two years in a row, 120+. Even then, Fyfe and Dangerfield have both only gone 120+ twice.

Kelly and Bont, IMO, are two players who will one day fit into this category just because of how I've seen them play and what they're capable of. Crouch, Cripps and Z. Merrett will all be very good players, but they aren't in the same league as these two, nor the others I mentioned.

I agree with you that kelly and bont will one day be in that category but I reckon you're being a bit stiff on crippa, bloke had 150 more contested possessions and 60 more clearances than anyone else after 50 games. Bont and kelly have both played around 25-30 more games than cripps as well. I also think if you look at the fact that this year is Cripps' first full pre season, it shows just how good he could be.

GoLions

Had him in my original team, don't have him atm (gone for Zerrett instead). Might look to him as an upgrade target.

shaker

I have taken him out of my team as well had a good look at his history and when given a good tag which has not been to often his scores can fall away dramatically example R22 last year when Ebert got hold of him he scored 45 , coaches take note of these things so feel best to leave him out and see how he and the Doggies go so maybe an upgrade target.

SilverLion

Too up and down for his price really.

dylanclements

I agree with those who think he's too inconsistent. Having said that I'm rolling the dice on him overcoming it a bit this year. Reckon he's a good one to punt on

From round 7, 2016 to round 6, 2017 Bont averaged 122. That's over 26 matches so as good as a full season (including finals). You'd be hard pressed to find anyone else apart from Danger who could churn out those numbers.

Then the wheels fell off and he punched out a lot of average scores I did have him in to start but would rather pay some more for a gun and see what he does maybe an upgrade

Plenty of players go through form slumps, good ones usually bounce back. The fact that Bont didn't average 122 in a calender year is the only thing that's creating the illusion that he can't be consistent. Fact is he strung together 26 very high calibre games and collected a premiership in the middle of all that. If anything I reckon he can go higher, few other players can gather 22-23 disposals and score 130s & 140s. Massive ceiling if he hits 30 touches a game.

10 games after that run out of 15 below a 100 including 88,85,81,80,73 and most concerning 45 when tagged , I know anyone can get tagged but he was taken completely out of the game by Ebert and yes I had him last year so not for me even though I know he can be a match winner just not sure other coaches will leave him unattended after that 45

What frustrates me about Bont is he doesn't get enough pill. I started him last year and apart from a good start he was a pain to own and watch.
He depends on match winning/ high influence to get scores. So it also depends on Doggies being near the top again which I just don't see with their forward line options and now missing Stringer.
If he could just get more of it he'd be a must have. Could happen and if it's consistent then I'll bring him in but I actually think Macrae might be a better option to start.

^^ Why he's in my side. Hes one of those players that pisses you off when you opponent has him and he bangs out a 140 from 22 disposals. Rather that be on my team then it pissing me off the other way

Anyone can pick random blocks of time to mount a case for any premium really, still think he is too inconsistent for his price imo.

Absolutely locked in. Don't see why not. Rolls Royce of CD now.
