I’ve opted to go for Premos/Rookies again this year. I cannot stand mid priced plays they get you no where even though there is plenty of value out there this year.

Def - Easy this year heaps of options and I believe my first 4 will be in the top 10-12 defenders come seasons end.

Mids-With the midfield I believe the changing of the guard has happened and is still happening with young bulls like Crouch and Oliver and the sliky smooth Bont and Kelly taking over in SC from the proven premos like the Sydney boys, Jelwood, Pendles etc, will obviously need to get in Dusty and Titch at some point.

Rucks- Set and Forget.

Fwds- Hardest line by far. Toby McLean will be a top 10 fwd this year I’m certain of it.

Rip this team apart!

Nice side. Love your backs.

Main concerns are Ryder, Gray and no M6 mid prem/mid pricer.

Feel that sides should bat at least 6 deep in the mids, and picking Ryder will mean you'll be guaranteed a man down in Rd. 10.

Gray has that problem as well, but is also recovering from a cancer scare, so you may want to wait and see how he goes first before picking him.

Good luck for 2018!

Agree that Ryder and Gray are risks, especially Gray as he is a much better 'wait and see candidate'. Would steer clear from both of these players due to their round 10 bye.

Think having 5 midfield premiums is fine as the rookies in the mids make the most money (in most cases)

Defence is strong so can't fault that.

Love the midfield as well as all could and should be top 10 or thereabouts.

Ryder to Jacobs in the ruck would be smart in my opinion.

Forward line is good but I would change Gray to forward of your choice. Love the McLean pick think he is a real good chance of being a top 5-10 forward.

Ringo

Nice side.

Can understand Guns and Rookies approach.  However my opinion is if going that approach you probably need 6 premium mids to start with as M6 will probably be scoring more than your F4/D4.

Ryder really worrying as unless you have cover by Rd 10 you will wear a donut. Maybe downgrade him to a playing ruck at lower price and upgrade to Ryder after their bye.

Gray is similar. I am using the first 10 rounds to see how he gels with Rocky and Motlop coming in and then if warranted will look at bringing him in Rd 11. Agree on McLean who has been in and out of my side a number of times.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I totally forgot about the Port/GCS early bye so I have swapped Gray for Greene and Ryder for Goldy. I went with 6 big premo mids last year and it burnt me bad.. I wasn’t generating enough cash and it hurt me towards the end of the year. I like the mid rookies As well this year much better than last year!
What are your guys thoughts on Dawson Simpson?

be ware of Preuss. Other than that i like the swaps.

If Simpson plays he is worth a look.

I think Lobb will be number 1 ruck with Keefe as a backup but I dont really know.

Team update:
With the uncertainty of premos in all lines expect the midfield this year I have decided to go all out there and will wait and see who looks good for other lines as the season plays out. I’m massive on Toby McLean I really think he’s on the verge of a big year. And Sicily has a serious chance to be a top 15 fwd this year... if he can avoid his spaz attacks I think he average somewhere between 94-98 which should put him up with the top scoring fwds. Everything else in my team is pretty bog standard!
Would love feedback/opinions good or bad  ;D

First three picks in the defence are good and like how you have gone with Roberton who is a good pod as he is a good chance to finish top 5-10. Not sure I can trust 5 defence rookies lining up and playing continually though so would try and get a midpricer in for one of them.

Midfield is really strong, can't fault it.

Smith is a risk with the Stanley factor, would look at Jacobs (or Goldy as he is apparently back to his best and looking like playing the number one ruck)

I like the forward line and think that if you did want to sacrifice a line to strengthen your midfield it should be this one! A positive is all 3 of the 'premium' selections you have chosen could be top 10 come seasons end yet you save 200k going with the cheaper options rather than the Heeney/Billings types. Again 5 forward rookies is a big ask so would look at getting Christensen/Ah Chee

Bully

That's 8 rookies starting on the field, most people have 6, some have 5 including myself. Think you need to source a bit of value, I'd start with the mids.

Picking Crozier as a potential keeper not a cash cow. He will break out at half back for us this year imo.
Hurry up round one so keen!!

Liking the mid choices with Bont and Kelly over the popular Cripps + Dusty.
Martin another one that could pay off even if A.Smith plays as he is good around the ground as well.
Menegola is more an upgrade target for mine given starting price and GAJ in the team. But then again could be a handy POD in less than 10% of teams.
Fwd line is very deep, backs not so deep, so getting a D/F DPP rookie in the backs to switch Sicily around as needed would be a good idea.

Thanks mate they are both silky smooth love watching them play!

Besides Kruz, Ryder and Gawn most teams have rucks who are fighting it out with someone else for that 1 role anyway and Stef is just a big midfielder so I’m keen as on him.

I agree I’m paying overs for Menegola but I like the security he provides... should be in the top 5-6 fwds come seasons end so don’t and had an uninterrupted pre season so I don’t mind paying that bit extra for him. Thanks for you feedback  :D

Also forgot to mention I have Harry Dear in defence who is a fwd/def that provides Sicily the ability to swing into defence

My backline is a cheap as they come but I like the rookies there so don’t mind going light on
