Haven't seen Sloane in a single team.
Despite having a few shockers when tagged he still only averaged slightly less than Crouch who seems to be in every second ot third team.
Goddard is tipping him to win the brownlow due to predicting him" having conquered last season's concerns with a tag" how he would know that I've no idea but if he does score 80+ instead of 40 in those few games he could easily be a top 8 mid. I mean he was top 9 last year. He got off to a flyer and would have helped owners to do the same.
Add to that the Crows seemed to win when he was tagged so maybe won't happen as much.  And add to that Gibbs coming in to take more attention and I think he has some serious merit as a POD.

:)

Some very valid points ub. Just one thing is stopping me picking him. That is not knowing how his contractual negotiations or press speculations will effect his game. Have just decided to deep six the Bont and Sloane is one of four in contention. Sloane, Kelly J, Zorko or J Macrae. Talking about contracts, I wonder how Dusty will go this year now that he can fully concentrate on his game.

Totally agree on Rory - in a lot of ways has been a really underrated pick for years. A player of his class will surely sort out his tagging issues and get close to being top four mids you'd think.

Right now my best read on the rookies has a lot of them in the mids so I've gone heavier at the bookends. It's between Rory and Bont for fourth picked and right now I have the latter. Underrated POD though - has been in lots of versions of my team and could easily be there come rd. 1

One of the reasons is the number of prem mids with Rd 14 bye. Danger, Dusty, Fyfe, Gibbs and co.

I really don't want another year of 'following the rules' and having a cookie cutter team that's good enough for another Top 1% finish which realistically is worth nothing so I'm extremely tempted to try something different and risk a few POD's this year

It's only a game after all

I'm doing that in AF this year, not sure I have the balls to do it in SC  :P

Im on this bandwagon this year. I have a very POD type team right now. Excluding a few obvious exceptions.
FYI. No Laird, No Danger, Dusty or Mitchell, No Heeney to begin with.

I'm on that bandwagon every year. Prepare for a finish between 506th and 40k

Wow that's ballsy! Would have thought one of Danger/Dusty/Titch would be a must for captain duties paired with Fyfe who I presume u have?
Heeney I can understand leaving out and there are other rebounding options for Laird.
PODs are definitely vital to get a jump on the pack, but too many PODs for PODs sake can be a worry. Many popular players are popular for a reason, they are the best. Balance is the key and what we are all trying to find.

GAJ, Fyfe and Ruckman is enough captain options. Don't need those boring unts that are in every other team.

Jack Macrae playing across half forward and adding goals to his repertoire might see him push into the top 8. Averaged 107 last year and only kicked 2 sausages for the season. He'll still find the pill regardless of where he plays.

Josh Kelly is in 19% of teams but I've seen him in 0% on here.

You could make a case for about 35 of the top 40 from last year finding themselves in the top 8 this year. 4 of them in the 9-40 range will do it.

Think this could be a regular thing in season? Bont obviously reported to be playing more of a kpf role when resting, but does Macrae spend significant time in the fwd half too?

We've got an enormous focus on flexibility so I think pretty much all of our mids will be playing duel roles this year. Libba looks like the only one who doesn't have another position but the midfield rotations of McLean, Dahl, Bont, Wallis, Dunkley, Hunter, Jong, Dale and Macrae are all capable of playing elsewhere. Macrae to half forward from the wing isn't much of a change so I'd expect it to be likely.

Fiorini to average 100 over the first 10 rounds, kick-started by a 140 vs Norf in round one.
