Cheers mate, always need a good reminder of this.

Pity that's not how they are really awarded. I've never seen anyone get 1.5 points

SilverLion

Don't forget the -1 point for every minute they don't gain any points

This was posted by CD after people cracked the showers over the scores of Bont vs JPK in rd 12
Bont 18 touches 92SC 97DT, JPK 37 touches and a goal 101SC 112DT

I found it really fascinating, highlighted all the extra actions that result in scores and to some extent the scaling involved

I assume they only list the stats that had at least one players scoring in, Mark contested (from opposition) is not there, so i guess neither of them took an intercept mark

First time I've seen that and pretty eyeopening. Defensive efforts making a huge difference in Bont's scores

Just to confirm one of the scoring methods in my previous post,

Early in the game last night Dusty was on 4 SC, he knocked the ball out of a contest to a Tigers player who then scored a goal.
Dusty's score jumped to 9 SC without recording any standard stat

Contested Knock-on +4, Effective Knock-on +1

So when people dog about SC scores just remember there are plenty of acts like knock-ons that give decent amounts of SC points but don't show in the main stats

Not to mention he went from 148->160 in the final five minutes without touching it because he was the only Tigers' player to do anything of consequence all night.  :P

That's just the in-game scaling at work.

People forget that these scores are not made for SuperCoach, they are made to rank the impact of AFL players each game. So the players that we think get points for free (Bont, Dusty, Danger, Nic Nat) are really good players, so they get those points because they do good shower that isn't always noticed, and they do that good shower at the right times.

It feels like time for a good ol' SC scoring whinge. WTF happened in the bombers/dogs game? How can one side so comprehensively dominate the SC scoring and only win by 21 points? Because the system is terribly flawed, that's how. CD or anyone who claims it's a fair representation of the actual game, are fooling themselves. Don't get me wrong I love playing SC but you only have to look at a result like that to see there's a lot of luck/randomness involved.

Bombers were never in the game after quarter time. If the Dogs kicked accurately, they would have won by 50 points. Extra 100 more disposals, and 70 more marks were two areas that they killed the Bombers in fantasy terms.
