Have decided against Nic Nat after careful consideration. Think the deal breaker is the threat of an early season resting due to soreness, would hate to have to blow a couple of trades to avoid a donut. In the end I've gone with a Goldy/Sicily combo, just think there's enormous upside with a mentally strong Goldy and his low ownership could be a significant advantage if he bounces back to anything approaching 2015 form. Sicily is a bit of a risk but that's mitigated by his DPP & cheap price. If he can crack a 90 average then he's the perfect swingman when the byes arrive. Walters is the other addition, another gut feel but all signs are pointing to a big stint in the mids. Sweating on Birch but that's really the only worry from here, will deal with that issue if it arises.

I think any defence with laird that bats 4 deep has merit this year. One of the positions that's free for all from d2-d4. I probably wouldn't run 2 players with injury clouds in a line Hanley + Birchall and Heeney + Billings, would choose one of each.

Stringer gone really hurts bontempelli i think. They're one more target down and it will force him to play more up forward especially if rumours about libba being back to his best are true. Beams should be in more teams, will go boom this year.

Rucks, like defence, is pretty much gawn and then whoever. Goldstein as good as any.

Forwards are great, just would choose one of heeney and billings.

Possibly Go: Billings --> D.Smith and Bont --> M.Crouch (sneaky chance to be 2nd top scorer this year i think)

Pretty set with the mids & forwards, don't fear Billings or Bont. Billings smashed it after round 6, he'll also be getting more mid time and has worked hard on his goal kicking in the off-season, I actually think he's under priced. I looked at Smith and then gave him a pass, never really been SC relevant & a change of club doesn't excite me as much as some. Bont should bounce back, he's simply too good a player & Stringer being out will help & not hinder in my opinion. I posted his stats from round 7, 2016 to round 6 2017 and he averaged 122, very few players can do that over 25 matches.

Thats fair, i think their midfield is good enough to function without him for the most part. Their forward line cannot. From round 7 last year he spent a lot of time as a forward, something to watch.

Bont is one of the few players who can score big with low possession counts, very high impact player. If the disposal count increases to consistent 30s he'll be hard to stop. Still only 22 so can easily lift a gear.

Really like this team with all lines batting reasonably cheap with guys like Beams/Bont who can be considered as underpriced allowing you to get extra premiums in the side.

Laird is a lock and Hanley/Silicy have the potential to average 90+ which seems to be a good enough reason to start them with anyone a chance to finish in that top 5-10 range come seasons end. Birchall with injury concerns is a risk but I think he is worth starting if he lines up round 1 as he should be good for a 75-80 average.

Danger/Fyfe speak for themselves and the next 4 are underpriced and are a really good chance of going 105+ which should mean they are all solid keepers.

Gawn is a lock and think Goldy is as good a chance as any to be joining Gawn with the number 1/2 mantle. I am really warming to Goldy as he has a huuuuuge ceiling and is said to be looking as good as he was in 2015.

Heeney/Billings are a really good chance at finishing number 1 and 2 overall this season even with there injury concerns. Walters and Dahlhaus are both good chances to finish in that top 5-10 range so can't fault those selections and I am starting to think Bundy could become a keeper.

I really like this team.

Cheers MS, agree Birch is still the big worry. Whilst I've got you online, what would you do if Birch doesn't get up? I know he's close and I'm even tempted to keep him in there if he's sidelined for a week or 2. Just feel he's the type I want to keep all year at D7.

Walters down to a Ah Chee/Rookie type and Birch to prem would be the move I'd think

Yeah I agree with RD. Think that your least favourite forward done too a rookie and then upgrading Birchall to your favourite premium defender is the way to go, would also leave you with some extra cash to play around with.

If Bonner is named round 1 think I'll probably take the punt, don't want to mess with my forward set up and don't particularly like any defenders under 500k. Not willing to give up Walters, good chance to average 90+ this year. Bonner has played 4 games including one final and hasn't dipped below 74. Lovely shoe on him too, prototype rebounder who now has 3 preseasons behind him. Worst case is he warms the seat until Birch is back.

frenzy

great team, 15 keepers plus Birch and Bundy, my goodness me.

Like it Bully - Will be great if all fire (which we all hope for).  Nice bye structure as well. Should be able to cover Hanleys Rd 10 bye.

Think Mids are a little weak compared to most teams but make up in other lines. Would prefer to see another super mid prem in there though.

Would also move Keefe to forwards so he can swing with Sicily if needed,

First upgrade target will be Dusty, banking on him throwing in a few stinkers to start the season. As for TMitch, Kelly, Crouch etc. really want them to back it up, not convinced they will, that's why I've held off. For TMitch, I really think he might struggle to hit 120, 110 is more my thinking. Crouch now has Gibbs messing with the points pool, Kelly has enormous talent all around him, wouldn't surprise to see Whitfield increasing his output.

Point taken with Keefe, just waiting to see if we get enough defence rookies, have even considered him as a floating donut but will wait and see what else is available.

Have done a bit more research on Bonner and all the signs point to a third year breakout, top disposal for a 190+cm defender.
